Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

I had a White Creme Egg today. It was different, thats for sure

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 20/04/2025 04:52

I'd love a pot of tea and an Easter egg. Are there any buttons ones?

sashh · 20/04/2025 06:52

Morning.

Well chocolate eggs seem popular for breakfast but I think I'll save them for tomorrow.

Leo is going to make more marbled hard boiled eggs, Florence is making sourdough so we can have open sandwiches or eggs on toast, Fernando is making bucks fizz.

sashh · 21/04/2025 02:47

OK I'm going to put the various chocolate eggs and bunnies on the side so help yourselves.

It looks like it is going to be sunny today so I'm making a breakfast / pack up mash up.

So Leo has made quiche in various varieties and some mini egg tarts and will, as always cook eggs to order. cherry tomatoes, mini cucumbers, sourdough and crusty bread rolls from Florence, ham, sticky chicken wings and a variety of fruit.

Fernando is making cocktails with alcoholic ginger beer.

I love a quiche! Since my cat decided to get on her hind legs and tap me awake I am here to sample the quiches.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 21/04/2025 03:15

Oooh that sounds like a lovely Brekkie ! Yum

sashh · 21/04/2025 03:50

@MyOtherProfile Sounds like a sensible cat.

Morning.

IRL I feel like death warmed up so I'm going to leave you in the capable hands of F and F and Leo.

I am sorry you are feel8ng rough again @sashh , you seem to be having a hard time of things lately.

I am to late for breakfast but I fancy a omelette, I will make enough for everyone and leave the mixture in the fridge.

sashh · 23/04/2025 07:45

Morning.

I'm on the mend, I hope, I am due a vitamin injection on Friday so that should help. I'm still leaving the cooking to F and F and L.

ScottBakula · 23/04/2025 21:45

Hopefully a jab will make you feel better on Friday @sashh

I will set up 'on toast' breakfast stuff so there is beans , tomatoes, bacon , sausage, eggs ( tell Leo how you'd like them cooking) mushrooms, pilchards.
The sweet stuff , jam , marmalade, peanut butter, honey .

And

All

The

Way

Over

Here

Is

The

Marmite

tattoonewbie · 24/04/2025 03:16

Morning all. Big day coming up at work and can't sleep. I might nibble on any leftover cream eggs and have a tea.

sashh · 24/04/2025 05:45

Morning.

Thanks for keeping things going. I think this morning we can sample a creole breakfast, starting with a skillet of bacon, sausage, eggs, spices, potatoes and spring onions.

Leo is making Eggs Hussarde.

Florence is making corn bread and Fernando is making cocktails with Bourbon.

sashh · 25/04/2025 06:27

Morning. Have we all had enough chocolate? Of course not, so Florence is making churros to did in chocolate sauce, Fernando is making hot chocolate cocktails and Leo, well Leo is frying eggs in a basket.

For something a bit healthier I'm making a cinnamon and blue berry porridge and a selection of fresh fruit.

OP posts:
tattoonewbie · 25/04/2025 06:54

Pls can I have porridge with a little tiny side of churros ? Been awake a whole but tried to ignore it in vain. I'm coughing up a storm so have retreated so my sofa and my new cover less duvet - revelation for me to have a nice snuggle under when not sleeping

sashh · 25/04/2025 16:46

On its way @tattoonewbie

OP posts:
sashh · 26/04/2025 05:39

Morning.

Well I'm not sure if the injection worked but I slept relatively well last night so I think we should have a trip to Cambodia.

Kuy Teav, a meat and noodle soup with a choice of toppings.

Bai Sach Chrouk, grilled pork served with white rice.

Bobor - a savory porridge with fish

Num Banh Chock, aanother noodle dish but with rice vermicelli in a broth with beg.

Florence is making Num Pang, a sort of mix up between French and Cambodian bread.
Fernando is making cocktails with a Kampot - passion fruit rum.

Leo thinks everyone should have either a boiled or a fried egg on top of their breakfast. I will leave that to personal choice.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 27/04/2025 02:12

Im not sure i have had enough chocolate but i fancy a big fat fry up this morning… Anyone else?

sashh · 27/04/2025 03:25

Morning.

Well as @ImDoneOnceAndForAll has suggested a fry up I'll get right on it, Lincolnshire and Cumberland sausage, back bacon, bubble and squeak, potato cakes, black pudding, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread and I'll let Leo do the eggs.

Florence is making bread for toast and Fernando is making marmalade flavoured cocktails.

OP posts:
ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 27/04/2025 04:43

Ooooh sounds soooo good. Thank you

tattoonewbie · 27/04/2025 05:30

Oh yes please to all the non meat bits. And a cocktail for sure please. Hope you're ok @sashh

sashh · 27/04/2025 06:22

@tattoonewbie One vegi fry up with a cocktail, would you like anything to replace he meat?

OP posts:
tattoonewbie · 27/04/2025 10:29

No thanks. I think I'm good. Love mushrooms and eggs together. I just don't like meat. Cook it for the family but I can't get on board with it !

sashh · 28/04/2025 05:40

Morning.

Mushrooms you say? Why not, lets have a mushroom based breakfast.

Obviously some will be on toast so I'll get Florence making different breads and Fernando is making fruit based cocktails.

Obviously Leo is making omelettes.

So breakfast.

Parmesan-thyme cremini

Stuffed portobello mushrooms

Sautéed slices of chicken of the woods

Shiitake Mushroom soup

I think that's enough for now but if you have other requests just ask.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 28/04/2025 10:15

Aww I missed the fry up .

Mushrooms? Hmm can I have large flat Mushrooms stuffed with Stilton and mozzarella ( strong and stringy)
And a couple of poached eggs please.
