Morning! A cup of tea would be very welcome. Hope everyone has a good day.

sashh · 02/08/2023 07:13

I'll check to see if there is any parkin ready, it was popular so I made a new batch but it needs three days for the flavour to develop.

>> waits patiently in line for matured parkin <<
Irl tomorrow instead of going to a meeting at a fairly local site ( 45 mis by 2 buses ) I am now going to a different site that's 2.5 hrs away ( 2 buses a train and 20 min walk) so @sashh do you have anything I can eat on a rush hour 🙁train ?

StopStartStop · 02/08/2023 20:08

Oh, that's so true! My dad used to put his parkin away for three days before we were allowed to eat it. I must ask him to make some more. Meanwhile, I'll join the queue...

sashh · 03/08/2023 05:06

Mornng.

@ScottBakula I'll make some bento boxes for take out.

For breakfast I think I'll make sandwiches with a choice of bacon, sausage, eggs (fried or scrambled). beans, tomato, mushrooms, choice of sauces and a choice of breads.

Bentos rice obviously with pickles, fish, cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks and hard boiled egg.

MinnieMountain · 03/08/2023 05:55

Morning
A bacon sandwich and coffee please. I’ve brought my cat as she’s in a cuddly mood.
I love bento boxes.
That journey sounds like a right pain @ScottBakula .

StopStartStop · 03/08/2023 08:09

Good morning! Could I have eggs, mushrooms and some rough bread, please? Thank you so much.

sashh · 03/08/2023 10:10

No problem @MinnieMountain and @StopStartStop

OP posts:
StopStartStop · 03/08/2023 11:34

Thanks!

ScottBakula · 03/08/2023 14:10

Thank you @sashh that's very much appreciated.

@MinnieMountain, it's is a pain , the site is in the arse end of nowhere on a industrial estate , fortunately I don't have to go very often.

NoTeaNoShade · 04/08/2023 02:18

<wanders in>

Morning all, just setting up camp in the corner and awaiting the specials. I'll grab a broom and have a sweep around.

If Fernando is around, I'll see if he can rustle me up some warm milk with vanilla.

sashh · 04/08/2023 02:35

Morning.

OK the parkin should be ready so I'll just put the tin on the counter.

I thought it might be nice to see what our law makers eat, so this is a copy and paste from the Lord's dining room.

Jewkes and Dalby oak smoked bacon bap
Cumberland sausage bap
Soy bean sausage bap (ve)
Portabello mushroom and avocado bap (ve)
Granola and Watsons Farm yoghurt (v) with mixed winter berries, London honey or Scottish raspberries
Seasonal autumnal fruit salad (ve)
Freshly baked artisan Danish pastries (v)
Twinings teas
Freshly brewed coffee
Freshly squeezed orange juice
Pressed cloudy apple juice

Fernando will be making Buck's fizz

@NoTeaNoShade one warm vanilla milk - would you like a shot of vodka in it?

OP posts:
NoTeaNoShade · 04/08/2023 02:38

Gosh what an interesting menu! I'll take a sausage nap please, gorgeous.

If a shot of vodka slipped into the milk it wouldn't be the most terrible thing to happen..

NoTeaNoShade · 04/08/2023 02:39

Orrr a sausage bap. A sausage nap also sounds fun 😴

sashh · 04/08/2023 04:02

Is a sausage nap something you have after eating sausage baps?

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 04/08/2023 06:10

I managed a non-sausage nap 😁 I saw the thread at 4am but managed to get back to sleep.
A sausage bap and Buck’s Fizz please.
I saw that M&S are selling parkin now. Looks like I should make some so I don’t miss out. Does anyone have a recipe or is it simple?

sashh · 04/08/2023 06:26

Morning minnie.

There are parkin recipes online, if they have Golden syrup in then that's the Lancashire type, the proper stuff from Yorkshire just has dark treacle in it.

OP posts:
StopStartStop · 04/08/2023 06:28

A sausage-nap sounds a bit cheeky. Nap with/after sausage.

Anyway...

I'd really like some tea, parkin and fruit salad please. Oh, this is a lovely place!

MinnieMountain · 04/08/2023 06:35

Thank you @sashh . What’s your opinion on treacle and golden syrup quantities? Most recipes I’ve found have about 80g of treacle to 200g of syrup.

sashh · 04/08/2023 08:11

@MinnieMountain I would go with just treacle, but I'm from Yorkshire.

@StopStartStop help yourself tot he parkin, I'll get on with the fruit salad.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 04/08/2023 11:38

Can I have a sausage nap too please , with House's of Parliament sauce 😄.

I wonder if that's why some of the back benchers fall asleep , they are having a sausage nap .

ScottBakula · 04/08/2023 11:40

👀 ooh spies parkin , please can I have some with custard .

MinnieMountain · 04/08/2023 11:49

Treacle it is then.
Could I have some with custard too please? Sounds like a great combination.

Flubadubba · 05/08/2023 04:22

Anyone around?

Will grab a stool and a cuppa. Are there any sausage baps left?

sashh · 05/08/2023 04:48

Morning.

Well in real life I had a fall yesterday so I'm just going to sit in the corner and leave you lovely ladies to do the cooking.
