agree re. breastfeeding, it could highlight need for donated EBM couldn't it.

RiverOfSleep · 23/03/2010 21:36

fab you are so not a failure [hugs]

CaveMum · 23/03/2010 21:37

We're all thinking of you Fab

FabIsGettingThere · 23/03/2010 21:37

sorry guys

don't want to take over the thread

just had a little hand hold and chat with dh. he is lovely about it all as he knows how much i wanted our twins and how hard it was when the midwife said oh yes, you're the twin lady, and then just the one left now

largeginandtonic · 23/03/2010 21:37

This is such hard viewing. I had twins at 29 weeks. Both fine now (almost 12)

It is bringing it all back I hope they are all ok.

HairyMaclary · 23/03/2010 21:38

Expressing can happen after the birth even if v prem, hormones are the same and they kick in. It needs full time pumping though and lots of support, both emotional and practical. Some babies can't tolerate bm so it can be frozen for when they can, colostrum is literally liquid gold.

AnyFucker · 23/03/2010 21:38

whoever asked about the little mesh hats

they help to keep the oxygen tubing/ventilator tubes in place

mehdismummy · 23/03/2010 21:39

your not taking over fab

largeginandtonic · 23/03/2010 21:40

Oh Fab

I too sat expressing for the 4 months they were in. I hope they mention it.

HairyMaclary · 23/03/2010 21:40

I still feel a bit guilty too, I think Izzy's mum will go through cycles of it. I also think it will depend on the outcome, if all is well then the hurt lessens, if not or if she dies then it can continue to be very hard. There is no real support for any of those options which makes working through it on your own very hard.

EightiesChick · 23/03/2010 21:41

Am lucky not to have had DC in a neonatal unit, but this is making me sad that I had tons of breastmilk but couldn't donate it (I asked) because of medical history. I would really have liked to.

MamaGoblin · 23/03/2010 21:41

Oh god, this is so wrenching. Poor woman (william's mum). She's really holding it together, too.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2010 21:41

If Emma's will for William to live could be channeled into him, he'd be walking right now.

She is amazing, absolutely amazing.

RiverOfSleep · 23/03/2010 21:41

This sounds random but do you think they get their car parking paid for? They're going through such a lot and it would be so expensive. If they had to pay that'd be a scandal.

princessmel · 23/03/2010 21:41

This is so sad

It's sad that she has to cry in sort of secret too.

PictureThis · 23/03/2010 21:41

Emma is just fantastic

mrsjuan · 23/03/2010 21:42

My heart is breaking for these mums. I so hope they are ok.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 23/03/2010 21:42

Well done William

McDreamy · 23/03/2010 21:44

Aw William

HairyMaclary · 23/03/2010 21:44

RE car parking - where we were there were 6 free car parking spaces for the NICU, you couldn't always get a space as there were usually 12 or so babies in but I got one 9 out of 10 times. It was the follow up appointments afterwards that were the killers!
