My DD is 3yrs old and I still have vivid memories of my horrendous birth which is why I dont think I could have another one.

LittleWhiteWolf · 14/12/2009 21:49

Oh npg poor you. One of the women at my baby group had a terrible experience in labour and birth and she's said she cannot put herself through that. She is adopted so she's interested in adopting a brother or sister for her DD.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 14/12/2009 21:51

Great programme - but feel a bit like I'm rubber-necking at a car crash. I would like to know why she hasn't had a midwife herself. That was a weird thing to say.

Was her section elective? DH and I were that her preparation for birth was getting her hair and nails done.

And then we judged and had a good laugh

Rindercella · 14/12/2009 21:52

Oh bugger. The screaming has reminded me of the pain I am going to go through in about 14 weeks' time!

npg1 · 14/12/2009 21:52

Thats lovely. We have a 7yr old and a 3yr old and both where horrendous, second labour worse than first and I just dont think I could put myself through that again, although I would love another one. Think the only way I would have one is if I could have a c section.

npg1 · 14/12/2009 21:53

snap, I was thinking her c section must have been elective!

NotanOtter · 14/12/2009 21:54

SixtyFootDoll · 14/12/2009 21:54

saltyseadog · 14/12/2009 21:54

LittleWhiteWolf · 14/12/2009 21:56

Oh how awful...but then I had to laugh when mum said "you look like your daddy" and it cut to daddy with his big round bald red head!

wipes tears from eyes

5inthesleighbed · 14/12/2009 21:56

God that was awful. Sat crying the whole time that baby wasn't breathing.

Alambil · 14/12/2009 21:57

Goodness, I was holding my breath!

amandine07 · 14/12/2009 21:57

I'd say fair play to AH- she was a bit too much at the start but you could see a big change as she learnt more theory & clinical skills, and had the talk about how things can go badly wrong.
There are much easier things that she could do on TV to raise her profile!

LittleWhiteWolf · 14/12/2009 21:57

Yeah, well done AH.

Meglet · 14/12/2009 21:59

Shit, that was scary. Even in my em cs my ds was yelling like a banshee when he came out so I knew he was fine.

god that was scary. fair play to her she did well by the end of the programme.

crankytwanky · 14/12/2009 22:01

Missed it!

Caught the end. To be fair, I see babies being resuscitated all the time, and I well-up every time. No wonder she looked petrified.

Fruitysunshine · 14/12/2009 22:03

I think she did good. You could see her developing through the programme and she was never fully in charge of any situation so I don't think any of the mums/babes were in serious jeopardy.

pigleychez · 14/12/2009 22:04

God watching that has brought back the hiddeous memories of DD's birth and wondering what on earth made me want to do it all again in May!

So glad that baby was ok though.

amandine07 · 14/12/2009 22:04

I know, as he was being lifted up you could see how floppy he was, his head just rolled right back and he was quite blue. Never seen that on tele before, usually with births that aren't completely straightforward they just turn the cameras off/chuck out the film crew!
