Who doesn't watch the X factor?

Not having a go at those who do but just looking for like minded individuals! I started a new job recently and we were out for lunch the other day and I realised I was only person round the table that doesn't watch it! Maybe I am the only person in Britain who doesn't watch it? (apart from DH!)

We don't watch it here either

Don't watch strictly either

do like BGT though but that is much shorter series rather than going on for weeks and weeks

PheasantPlucker · 02/11/2009 11:54

I don't.

BunnyLebowski · 02/11/2009 11:57

I don't. Can't stand it. It's TV for idiots.

Libra · 02/11/2009 12:18

we don't tend to watch much TV at all, and definitely not on weekends.
We are working our way through all the box sets of West Wing though!

frostyfingers · 02/11/2009 12:29

No X Factor, Strictly, Big Brother, in fact any of those reality/talent type shows leave me cold. I find the whole thing so cringe making I'd rather sit in front of a blank screen. I know loads of people who love them and do feel slightly at a loss when they start talking about it, but I can live with that!

NorbertDentressangle · 02/11/2009 12:32

We don't watch it either (or any of those other "talent(less)" shows.

DD watches Strictly though

campion · 02/11/2009 13:06

Me.

DH and I bond over Strictly, though, ( and we record ITT) but do get a bit when ' journey' is mentioned or someone tries to pull our heartstrings - like the hopeless and gloomy Craig. Wish we could vote him out.

Bomper · 02/11/2009 13:34

Nope - don't watch it. Do watch Strictly though. Love dancing, love all the sequins and fake tan. And as soon as it finishes, it's straight on to Dancing on Ice!!

wintera · 02/11/2009 20:21

Count me in!! I don't watch it either. Bloody load of rubbish. Bugs me how everyone is constantly talking about it at the mo too.

MajorMajor · 02/11/2009 21:07

Me too. I also don't watch Big Brother, Dragons Den or any talent show or reality TV type show. Feel like I'm being seen as snobbish when people at work talk about them - but it's not that I'm snobbish (I hope) - I'm just not interested.

JetLi · 02/11/2009 21:11

What MajorMajor said.

thelunar66 · 02/11/2009 21:31

Another no for X factor. Even though it excludes me from all the conversations at work.

EyeballsintheSky · 02/11/2009 21:35

Me neither. Used to watch the first ep but once I realised how set up it was I stopped doing that so haven't seen it for about 4 years. 'Twas a pile of shite back then. Don't watch Big Brother or Strictly either. More piles of shite.

The only one I watch at all is Dancing on Ice as I have adored Torvill and Dean since I was little.

SolidGhoulBrass · 02/11/2009 21:36

No, I don't watch it either. But then I don't really watch TV at all, except for in the spring when Ashes to Ashes is on and the occaisional episode of something like Mock The Week or Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

yogabird · 02/11/2009 21:39

lowest common denominator tv!

I do love Ashes to Ashes too though Solidghoulbrass, it makes the grim dark bleak post xmas Monday nights bearable!

JimJammum · 02/11/2009 21:40

I've never seen it. I started watching this year 2 weeks ago; just the first 20 mins of the Sunday night show, which means I get to see what Dannii and Cheryl are wearing, a tiny clip of each competitor singing and then the guest act of the night perform. Fab. Means I can keep up with the Monday morning discussions without having to watch hours and hours of rubbbish!! Makes me wonder why you'd sit through the whole lot.

preciouslillywhite · 02/11/2009 21:43

I would rather eat my own arm

[turning into my stern puritan dad emoticon]

wildfig · 02/11/2009 22:21

Me neither. I've made a blanket ban on all shows which force people to beg for a chance to prove themselves/change their lives/step to the mark/do it for my ill mum/show Fierce Chance-Giver that they can do better next week. Also, any show which employs the long pause/du-DUM, du-DUM background music torture.

(Apart from The Restaurant. And that's only because Raymond looks genuinely sad.)

preciouslillywhite · 02/11/2009 22:39

...or where there is a montage of the winner's journey at the end

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

preciouslillywhite · 02/11/2009 22:41

I asked my child free friends how they can bear to watch X Factor and Strictly...

they told me stroooooong spliffs help

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 02/11/2009 22:48

Nope. Can't stand reality TV. I just feel acute embarrasment for the poor fools and want to hide behind the sofa.

PurpleOne · 04/11/2009 01:30

Can't bear it myself. The Dcs raving about it, but it makes my eyes bleed profusely.

It's shit tv and a waste of tv licence money and sky subscription IMVHO

scaryteacher · 04/11/2009 09:11

Don't watch it either; I curl up and read instead, or catch up on other stuff I've recorded.

OmniDroid · 04/11/2009 09:46

Me neither - just not interested. Nor BB, Britains got talent, Strictly, soaps... Thank goodness the DC are too young yet to have an opinion on any of the above.

potplant · 04/11/2009 19:35

Yay some like minded souls!

I can't stand anything Simon Cowell related particularly X Factor and I have no idea who any of them are. Well except for the twins but that's mainly cos all of the papers are very cruel to them but now seem to love them. No idea if they are good or bad.

I have a friend who records it and skips through all of the 'journey'/judges bollox stuff. Apparently a 2 hour show can be done in 40 mins!

I do like Strictly and BB is my secret low brow guilty pleasure.
