the kids are always lovely

poopscoop · 13/08/2009 21:08

paper round at 11 years old? He is a bit young. thought you had to be 13?

liking both families very much so far.

I like both families too, The poor families kids speak very highly of their mum, which is lovely to hear.

kathyis6incheshigh · 13/08/2009 21:13

how did the rich one make his money? I missed that bit.

CloudDragon · 13/08/2009 21:14

poop - I had a newspaper round from 10, I loved it. Good money.

AnyFucker · 13/08/2009 21:14

caravan parks and tourist attractions kathy

kathyis6incheshigh · 13/08/2009 21:16

thanks AnyFucker

poopscoop · 13/08/2009 21:16

i had paper round at 12 which was naughty because i had to be 13, but that was 30 years ago. maybe different now.

MuffinToptheMule · 13/08/2009 21:17

good so far

forehead · 13/08/2009 21:18

Find it a bit depressing tbh. I do like the fact that the rich chap wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he worked hard to achieve his fortune. I am loving the little boy, he is going to do great things in his life.

thaliablogs · 13/08/2009 21:20

agree re the children. Anyone else think they selected the families specifically to ensure there was at least one very sweet, telegenic child in each family?

kathyis6incheshigh · 13/08/2009 21:23

yes, it's a feelgood programme
But nonetheless interesting & moving.

beanieb · 13/08/2009 21:31

it's lovely. Though I don't know if it's true Poverty.

I have shed a tear though.

chablis · 13/08/2009 21:33

Hopefully it will open the eyes of people who don't understand the 'catch 22' situation people like this find themselves in - where they're always trying to just keep their head above water without a hope of being able to get a 'lucky break' to start a new life?

Agree it's quite moving.

poopscoop · 13/08/2009 21:34

i have welled up a bit i must admit

i like that the poor family seem to be doing more with the money than last week, if it helps them move to a better area that would be brilliant

glasjam · 13/08/2009 21:36

Yes this is lovely. It's the first one I've watched. BUT I do feel uneasy - I keep waiting for it to go tits up. So far the recipients of the money seem genuinely delighted and are putting it to use in paying off debts and changing their life for the better. But what if they want to spend it on something a bit frivolous - will the rich ones sit in judgement. Or will they end up giving them a job on one of their caravan sites - I DO hope it works out well.

chablis · 13/08/2009 21:44

Wow - the kids are just SO nice & wise and sensible!

FluffySaysTheDailyMailsCrap · 13/08/2009 21:47

I missed the first 3/4, I'm watching the last bit and will catch it up on +1 {sigh}

glasjam · 13/08/2009 21:47

Here we go - I really hope he can help them out with their new life - it's looking promising...

poopscoop · 13/08/2009 21:47

glasjam - reckon you are right about them getting a job on one of their sites.

LittleMissBliss · 13/08/2009 21:48

I think this will be the best one yet! truly life changing for the poor family.

tiredsville · 13/08/2009 21:50

Gosh the kids do it for me, every week same old thing, me crying over lovely children.

glasjam · 13/08/2009 21:58

YESSSSSSS!! That is an amazing thing they've done for them - a live-in warden position. Christ. I would really love to know what happens with this. Like someone else said - feelgood telly for a change!
