I am already nearly crying.
The thought of them having so many operations and having so much medication.

lisad123 · 28/04/2009 21:07

stillenacht · 28/04/2009 21:08

ellingwoman · 28/04/2009 21:37

Poor little thing

jenk1 · 28/04/2009 21:38

aww shelby

expatinscotland · 28/04/2009 21:51

it is SO refreshing to see people living with children with disabilities. and to see people and know, that life is worth living, however short it is. to see the smiles, the joy, that yes, life goes on and, yeah, it's actually got the same swings and roundabout as any other life.

expatinscotland · 28/04/2009 21:52

I have it at home, too. But I like seeing how others deal.

lisad123 · 28/04/2009 21:58

does shelby's mum look preggy again?

expatinscotland · 28/04/2009 21:59

She might be pregnant. Maybe she's just tired and a little puffy from the stress.

I really like this show. This is how it is.

And it's not all bad.

blametheparents · 28/04/2009 22:00

Footage of children all playing together was lovely

lottiejenkins · 28/04/2009 22:04

My son has special needs, he is profundly deaf, and has learning difficulties. When he was eighteen months old i was told he wouldnt walk or talk. He is doing now both, I realise how lucky I am to have him when I watch how the children(especially Shelbie) struggle, a friend of mine used to be Hamish's GP before he went to NZ. She is running the Great North Run in aid of Acondroplasia.

lisad123 · 28/04/2009 22:04

i think its so good they do this, shows these lovely children in a positive light, think they are all fabby

wasnt being funny about shelbys mum, def looked like a baby bump to me, but then again same could be said for me after too much wheat!

SuziSeis · 28/04/2009 22:05

i am SURE that was a baby bump on shelbyys mum

SuziSeis · 28/04/2009 22:06

inspirational show
grounding too

emkana · 28/04/2009 22:25

I cried so much when the girl with spina bifida had he holy communion thing - could so feel what an enormous sense of pride her family must feel.

Seeing Hamish, the boy with dwarfism, gives me mixed feelings (ds has dwarfism) - great to see him so active and doing so well, but didn't like the playground scenes and not looking forward to all that.

expatinscotland · 28/04/2009 22:51

he wasn't happy, em. bet you london to a brick they don't move.

emkana · 28/04/2009 22:52

Next week they are talking about the issue of limb-lengthening surgery again, which is also somethign I like to bury my head in the sand about

expatinscotland · 28/04/2009 22:54

i'm sure they'd like to as well, em. they had hoped hamish could help decide, too.

it's a hard one.

SuziSeis · 28/04/2009 22:58

Emkana of course i thought of you and your lovely ds during that scene

I wished Hamish had a big sister of two to put those kids right

candyfluff · 29/04/2009 07:10

this made me cry last night ,lovely kids
i dont feel hamish should have any sort of leg lengthening op though,if he was my child it wouldnt enter my head to go for all that pain for a few inches -its not worth it

blametheparents · 29/04/2009 09:44

Yes, the scene in the playground with Hamish was hard to watch.
