I love catching up with this programme, the same with Child of Our Time on the BBC. I welled up loads through last nights show.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 29/04/2009 10:40

I forgot it was on!

Off to see if it's on-demand anywhere!

Springfleurs · 29/04/2009 11:50

Not watched any before, not really aware of it. Ds been diagnosed with autism so it registered when deciding what to watch.

I cried my eyes out nearly all the way through, what brave gorgeous kids and families.

Would like to see if I can get hold of the other programmes to watch.

I have had to make difficult decisions regarding surgery for my DD it is really really hard to second guess what she would want me to have done in the future. So I was very interested watching about the little girl who is now involved in decision making about her surgery. The parents (meaning Hamish's too) will have agonised over any decision made, I certainly have, it is so individual to the child and family.

Such a good programme I thought, DD is only 2.7, I haven't seen the others, I wonder if it's possible to buy the series or get out at the library.

Ive followed all these with great interest as our dc3 is 8...... what I find really interesting is that ds3 is H.E and I was very interested to see his reactions he has never had any influence with any child with disability his best friend is autistic but he doesnt see him as 'disabled' hes just sees him as his mate,he was really interested in Hamish and said Dad come and look!! I thought he was going to say about his height but he was showing him the bike!!.

I really think this programme shows the truth about children with disabilities and the struggles the parents face.

I felt so sorry for the boy with T.s -Daniel? his family are so lovely it must be v difficult to cope with.

I feel sad about the little boy with downs in mainstream school.

greeat tv.

brittonc · 01/05/2009 18:14

Hope you don't mind my joining this thread being a man...but when I saw some of the questions about Shelbie thought I could answer.

SuziSeis, I'm Shelbies uncle. If there are any questions you have I can try and answer or pass onto Vicki.

lisad123, Yes Vicki was pregnant when the programme was filmed. She has a beautiful baby girl call Cienna.

ilovegrapenuts · 01/05/2009 22:14

brittonc please pass on congratulations to Vicki - such an inspirational mum to a wonderful family.

MarmadukeScarlet · 01/05/2009 22:54

My congratualtions too.

I am in awe of Vicki and her husband, they seem so calm and 'together' - a truely inspirational family.

I hope this finds Shelbie, and all the family, in the very best of health.

brittonc · 01/05/2009 23:34

Thanks. I'll pass your kind messages on to Vicki and Nick.
