i am,its really good this year-i mean the entertainment, litle britain et al but the scenes of the children particularly the malaria ones are sooo upsetting.

OP posts:
MrsFogi · 13/03/2009 23:10

What does Carol Vorderman look like??????????

twinsetandpearls · 13/03/2009 23:14

She is looking bizarre doesnt help that she is next to ruby wax who is about a foot shorter

pinkteddy · 13/03/2009 23:15

I thought she must have had a boob job. And large amounts of botox!

Sidge · 13/03/2009 23:15

I have watched it since about 1930, DD1 watched with me until her bedtime.

She is 10 and has asked if I can donate on her behalf as she has realised just how lucky she is to have the life she has.

And I feel the same way - my life is so full and I have so much, and so many of the people featured have so very little. I can't afford to give loads but maybe the fifteen quid I can spare will save a baby's life, or the life of a mother in Africa.

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 23:18

it's funny isn't it - I was trying to work out how much to donate, thought maybe what I was going for was too much in these times, then realised it's less than the price of two treatments but means so much. 2 hours work for me - lots of use in Africa.

EightiesChick · 13/03/2009 23:26

Once they said what the price of a malaria net was, that helped as then I gave £15 to pay for a net each from me, DH and DS. I have whispered to DS (who is way too young to understand but hey) that he has bought a net for a little baby like him to sleep under to keep them safe. I like to think of the counterpart of my DS being protected from malaria. It is remarkable how it takes relatively little to do some of this stuff.

twinsetandpearls · 13/03/2009 23:26

Davina has been very genuine tonight, she annoys me on BB but she has been very good on here.

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 23:27

isn't it incredible - we're in the middle of a recession, possibly heading into a depression and they've raised over £40m before midnight! In fact, with the £6m they've just announced, it'll probably go over the £50m before midnight - amazing!

NotAnOtter · 13/03/2009 23:27

davina had me blubbing and reaching for my wallett

twinsetandpearls · 13/03/2009 23:28

Me too. I had some money saved fo a new tent but as if we need a bigger tent more than those babies need a mother.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/03/2009 23:34

I cant watch as I watched last night and was in a mess.I have a baby and watching those babies last night was heartbreaking

How much for a net and I will make a donation?

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 23:37

£5 per mosquito net.

SlartyBartFast · 13/03/2009 23:42

the child of the alcoholic parents really upset me.
father christmas didnt come to her

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 23:43

interesting - Danielle Lloyd speaking about her abusive relationship - if only more people in the public eye would speak up about this, make it be more of a public issue rather than still a secretive sort of thing...

Jaquelinehyde · 13/03/2009 23:44

My eyes are bloodshot from crying. I love red nose day a really amazing day for the UK.

I will always give a donation no matter what my own financial status. I just always wish I could give/do more.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/03/2009 23:45

Thanks I will donate now

upagumtree · 13/03/2009 23:47

I'm watching this and it's breaking my heart. I have donated.

NotAnOtter · 13/03/2009 23:47

this show offers perspective

i for one am guilty of a lack of it sometimes

TheCrackFox · 13/03/2009 23:49

Finally pulled my finger out of my arse and donated. So upset about Davina's report. I think I am very guilty about forgetting what a great life I have.

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 23:51

I've turned the dying baby off twice now - still can't watch it, am so feeble.

twinsetandpearls · 13/03/2009 23:55

I think we all do NAO. Fretting about paying for school fees, or extra activities or holidays for our own kids when others dont even get past a year because of poverty.

Niecie · 13/03/2009 23:59

I'm watching it too.

I used to be able to watch this stuff with a stiff upper lip and completely dry eyes.

2 children later and I can barely raise a laugh for the funny bits let alone keep from crying. Davina was hard to watch and so was Annie Lennox sobbing earlier.

thumbwitch · 14/03/2009 00:04

Poor Fern - she can barely hold it together either. I like their choice of presenters this time.

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 14/03/2009 00:05

yep, I like the way they've picked a load of mothers, lots of empathy to go round.

Jaquelinehyde · 14/03/2009 00:07

I don't know how any of the presenters keep it together in the links. DP can't get a proper sentence out of me between sobs.
