I can see both sides, I think it is awful for him as all he has tried to do is build a slightly tacky but generally sympathetic dream house on a site he has owned for 20 years and obviously the planners think it is withing the realms of reasonableness.
But on the other hand, we cant see how close it is to the neighbours and how much it will interfere with their enjoyment of their home.
My mum and dad basically sold and moved from an amazing house that they had built and lived in for 20 years because of a dispute with neighbours.
The house was on a very picturesque site beside a river and was cut into a hill. On top of the hill was a cottage with an old fellow living in, he was nice, no problems at all.
But then a nephew (just released from prison ) of his put a caravan and built a deck over looking my parents house. TOTALLY invading their privacy.
Mum and dad complained, were agressively challenged and so went to the planning dept. And the planners told the neighbours to take it down and the neighbours appealed saying that they had nowhere else to live.
So rather than get into an official dispute my mum and dad just sold up and moved. Their home of 20 years was totally ruined for them by a thug moving in and bullying them
