That's a salient point about angels serenity. Let's have a chat about that before the Castiel squee recommences. DH feared the introduction of Christian overtones. I think it needed angels as a balance. I'd been saying to dh since s2 that it would make a nice counterpoint and as Ruby's character developed and the question of good/evil became so blurred, I think angels became necessary. And Kripke has played it just right, the shades of grey. They are warriors and rightly so because the demons are warriors too and they need something to stand against. It's played out well I think. Castiel is hot too. Which helps. Enormously.
Sooo... season finale.
Goodness me. I, well, er... I sat in stunned silence for at least 5 minutes after it finished. I'd read too many fics and talked to an inebriated rl friend who let too much slip to not know what was going to happen in general terms.
It was good wasn't it? Some individual scenes very powerful. I very much liked the slaughtered nun channelling Lucifer, thought that was horrifically good. Ditto, the RN switch from demon voice to human voice. Poor bloody Sam at this point. Also enjoyed that they didn't play out the Ruby question to the end. Her loyalties were obvious throughout the ep, the looks, the impatience, the excitement. It showed how far gone Sam was along the path that he didn't see it. Cas well drawn in the green room too. His make-up/hair was different and I think Misha did an excellent job of portraying the inner struggle. Loved the scenes with Cas/Dean and Chuck, oh Chuck. Poor Chuck.
I'm sorry, I just didn't like this Ruby. Her denouement was spoiled by the actress playing her. The big reveal should have been her crowning moment but she wasn't "awesome" just vaguely irritating. Hurrah for Dean and Sam coming together again to end her.
How long do I wait for my beta to do my chapters d'ya reckon? It's been 'definitely today' for about 4 days.
