Anyone else excited to see how Nigella gets on as the new judge? A worthy successor to Pru and Mary, I think.

Well, I enjoyed that a lot. Nigella is iconic. I hope some of the bakers did their research and make everything increasingly salty and liquorice flavoured as the weeks go on.

Oh. I am easily fooled. When I was four I was sure Michael Jones’ mum had somehow carved a white rabbit from a block of blancmange. 🙂

Now that would make a good technical challenge!

Shannon was in the trailer for next week, so I think she comes back. I assume that will mean a double elimination

I did laugh when they casually mentioned the thrupple. Peak Channel 4.

Also Shannon the country-accented project planner sounds exactly like Chelsea from the Archers! Anyone other Archers fans thought that too?

And I liked Nigella, she came across as still very much herself, and also warm and human to the contestants.

Does it matter? It’s a programme about baking.

Sad to say but agree with you about Nigella. I feel like her and Paul don't gel together nor with Alison & Noel. I'll give it a few more weeks for her to bed in but at the moment not feeling it.

Im still watching and just saw the cake collapse.

I was surprised that they hadn’t provided an adapted bench for Molly.

And I love coffee and walnut cake - but it needs to really taste of coffee - some of their cakes looked a bit pale for my liking.

I used to make coffee and walnut shortbread.

Actually, what I enjoyed about Nigella’s presence is that a significant proportion of the bakers rated her comments far more highly than Paul’s. Hopefully the Nigella Air Kiss of Approval takes over as the ultimate accolade, and the Hollywood Handshake becomes as obsolete as a penny-farthing, while Paul sulks orangely in the background.

Me too. The first cake falling was surely in part because she didn’t have an adapted workspace.

Has Nigella had problems with her teeth? She seemed to be eating awkwardly and covering her mouth every time.

Just watching her body language,I felt she was a bit nervous and not quite herself - which is perfectly natural given the hype around her joining. As we have seen on this very thread, everyone likes different hosts, so I guess she is wondering what will work in this context and feeling her way to a role she is comfortable with. I thought she was definitely not full throttle Nigella! Fingers crossed she ramps it up a bit in the weeks to come.

I hate how drags are everywhere. We had storytime at the local library for 4 and under - story read by a man in women's clothes and full make up.

Yes, Extra Slice did need a bit of a revamp but WTF is this?! It’s so dull 😢 I am happy to lose the stupid games at the end and the cake trolley with overly perfect souvenir cake…. but there are no viewers cake pics or audience bakes.
