Medvedev lost in Winston-Salem last night. Funny clips of him on SM of him muttering to himself at the changeover about playing pickleball with Jack Sock instead of tennis and that curling is an easier sport than tennis. Poor Daniil

Daniil is not having a good time. Not sure why he was playing Winston-Salem in the first place.

Part of me thinks Stan should have told them where they can stick their wildcard, given they didn’t think he was worth one in the first place. But I’m glad he’ll get a send off there. Let’s hope they do something nice for him.

I also thought he should have told them to fuck off I know he doesn’t want to let his fans down though and I hope they make plenty of noise but they are New Yorkers so that’s a given!

I’m in two minds as well about Stan but I’m pleased that he’ll get a final send off at the US Open - he should have been given a wildcard from the off as a retiring former champion (I wonder if Kypson’s injury was a twisted arm )

After last night’s moaning about the mixed doubles I’m a bit disappointed that the semis and the final will be on too late for me to watch

I feel a bit of a hypocrite, because I would have liked to watch the final too .

I'm glad he will play in the end but it would have been funny if he'd told them to stick it! It's all been so unnecessary!!

I thought you couldn't give wildcards out once qualifying had started? It went to a lucky loser instead?
Have the US Open tweaked the rules? Either way the whole debacle has been appalling and they look like shite (although they probably don't give a damn!).

Stan was probably tempted to tell them to stick it, but I guess after making it clear he wanted the wild card he would have looked a bit silly to then reject one when it was offered. I did also wonder if they had bent the rules but then slams have their own rules.

Congrats to Karolina and Jakub on the mixed doubles! Sky was showing a condensed version of the SF and F — I say condensed but they were just skipping random chunks, which was frustrating. Karo and Jakub were very close to going out to Mirra and Andrey in the SF, the Russians had two match points. Jakub's serve really helped them.

Reports that Casper is injured and may withdraw from the singles

It's been a fairly successful qualifying for the Brits, with 3 men and 3 women in the final round of qualifying. Jacob Fearnley is seeded 4th so he has a pretty good chance of getting in as a LL even if he doesn't win his final match. Heather Watson and Harriet Dart will play each other, so one of them is also guaranteed to make it. Worth noting that Arthur Fery is currently next in line for a seeding spot should any more seeded players withdraw — Casper may be in doubt and I'm still not entirely convinced Carlos will play singles.

Grigor has also made it through to the final round of qualies and will face Otto Virtanen.

He was injured in Cincinatti, back injury- so I am not really surprised. It's a shame though- his year (on court at least) has not gone well.
