Hi all I’ve started a new thread for when number one is full.

OP posts:

@cordelia16 I enjoyed it too. I preferred the guy who came 2nd, the winners style was very busy for my taste. And she never moved in. They are both designers now from what I have seen.

Oh really? Do you know why didn't she move in?

I really liked the guy who came in 2nd, too, and would have been happy with his win. I guess I was thinking about the children (which now seems like a moot point haha).

The guy who came in 3rd got on my nerves, but that could be because I binged them all over two days lol

Seaside3 · 13/06/2026 17:47

@cordelia16 I felt the kid element swayed things a bit. She didn't move (as i predicted) because she had a support network where she already lived. So hardly surprising really. The Scottish bloke kind of grew on me when they did the group task. He seemed like a team player.

She really should have thought of that before entering! I wondered how it would work bec she'd have to change their schools, etc. Ah well. I did enjoy seeing everyone design the same space. Too bad it was only one season.

I guess the money from the sale helped her loads though.

I really liked the presenter and pro designer too. X

Ah ofc! I didn't think of that.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/06/2026 19:34

Was that the one with the apartments in Sheffield?

Useless fact, but the pro Dara’s ex is married to Princess Beatrice.

I am a minefield of useless sleb trivia 😂

Love useless trivia. Also, I think i would have stuck with dara.

I’ve just watched the final and I am fed up with these 70s dolls house murky contrasting colours with busy ott botanical wall papers. They were both doing it (except then Sophie chucks in a load of cheapo animal print too). At least Lia did some architecting… Neither of these two had star quality and I do think Emmelee was robbed. I guess they both had that tacky high street vibe. I also got fed up with Sophie constantly having an emotional crisis; pull yourself together lass!

deeahgwitch · 14/06/2026 19:44

Not just his ex @Netaporterbut his ex fiancee with whom he had a child.
I am another expert on useless sleb trivia, my specialist subject being Royal trivia 😀

Yes!

JoCorvid · 15/06/2026 10:19

cordelia16 · 15/06/2026 09:14

Yes!

The Sheffield programme was great but all the way through I wondered about the contestants desire to live in Sheffield, and particularly the winner as she clearly had a lovely set of friends and support network. I’m not criticising Sheffield I’ve never been, but it would have been better to have only had contestants from that area or who wanted specifically to live there.

deeahgwitch · 15/06/2026 10:20

She could sell it on and have cash in the bank to buy where she wants @JoCorvid

I agree. I thought that, too, wondering if her girls would want to change schools, etc. And the point of designing your own flat is that you would live there rather than sell it on. Maybe that's why they didn't order a second series.

Yes that was very odd. I live near Sheffield and its a nice city as cities go.

It would be better to have local contestants and a different city each series. Maybe there aren't enough developers willing to have their apartments decorated in that way prefering neutral show homes for people to add their own personal touches..

I know, but it kind of defeated the point of the competition as the designers were doing what they would like if they won.

That would be really good! Shame there have been no more series.

Seaside3 · 15/06/2026 22:31

I didn't mind them not living there, but surely they should have been decorated in a style for future renters.

I did wonder what the developers got from it, they talked about getting new ideas/designs. I assumed part of the deal would be the winner would design further flats, but it didn't seem to be.

Still, a far better programme than idm
