Hi all I’ve started a new thread for when number one is full.

I've not rtft, but I have just realised it was gold glitter/flakes from the wallpaper

Haha! I thought it was dust too.

That is even worse - I’d also assumed it was just dust from all the work.

Twonewcats · 11/06/2026 12:56

Next have started to upload the items to their site.
There's only a handful of items so far, but they're the same sort of price as the other items they sell

What? It wasn't dust? That's crazy, I was wondering why the judges weren't referring to it as it was so obvious on the camera shot.

Table trim is terrible and so impractical everyone would be pulling it down trying to get their legs under the table unless it is just meant for a buffet table but how often do you use that. Tomato vase equally horrible and I can image all the dust gathering in between the tomatoes. Bedding and cushions nice but nothing new or original and definitely not worth the premium you would be paying because they were designed by Lia

Apart from the tomato vase which is pretty unique (is she a ceramicist or an interior designer?) most of that stuff has already been done a million times by H&M, Zara etc I think I’ve even seen similar stuff in Asda and Tesco.

Ifeeltheneedtheneedforcoffee · 11/06/2026 13:47

Just catching up on the thread and the final. I was pleased with lia winning as she had some lovely spaces throughout. I too would have liked emmerley in the final.
Doing 2 football boxes seemed too big an ask and they all seemed stretched which didn't help for the final
I was also distracted by Michelle saying "oh i can see zeeebra print" rather than "zebra" . I did say out loud "no you cant Michelle but you can see zebra'

You are right, the Italian phrases on things is very old hat / Home Bargains too.
From what I have seen her collection it isn’t very cohesive and involves zero risk taking on Next’s part- a confusing and underwhelming end to a confusing and underwhelming series.

Victoriawould24 · 11/06/2026 14:27

To be honest if you look at all the Next homeware and collections / collaborations, you’d struggle to find anything that you couldn’t directly attribute to any of this season’s designers. All the ‘signature’ looks are there apart from papier-mâché 🥴.

NeedWineNow · 11/06/2026 14:34

I've just had a look at the Next website I quite like the green bedding and the green/ecru lamp. They would look nice in my bedroom I think.

CornishPorsche · 11/06/2026 14:34

The sardine thing has been done to death, surely? Shein was selling that last year!

AgentPidge · 11/06/2026 14:37

Victoriawould24 · 10/06/2026 11:27

Maybe Sophie’s mum ‘with a French twist’ should have applied instead.

I thought the same!

AgentPidge · 11/06/2026 14:44

Firesidechatter · 09/06/2026 21:19

I said awhile ago I felt lia would win and she did, I liked her design, it was very elegant, I liked parts of Sophie’s, like the master bedroom was lovely and the living room. The dining room needed a bit more.

i felt Sophie’s was disjointed to an extent and parts of it bordered tacky, especially the hallway

Me too. That animal print was too Bet Lynch. There must be more sophisticated versions she could've chosen.

?? what's wrong with pronouncing it as zeebra?

Zeebra is the American pronunciation.

Twonewcats · 11/06/2026 16:26

Hm, I don't know a single person who doesn't say zeebra!

CrossPurposes · 11/06/2026 17:01

She said zee-bra i.e. the American English way while in the usual British English way it is zeb-ra.

Also it was totally dust motes in that hallway.

saveforthat · 11/06/2026 17:53

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/06/2026 16:30

Me neither.

Seaside3 · 11/06/2026 20:03

I don't know anyone who says zeeebra. And I didn't mind emmelys accent at all.

I can only find a few items of lias on the next website. As someone who nearly always buys 2nd hand or sale, I can't believe the prices. Ouch. You can find almost everything I've seen in any auction, charity shop ir supermarket for far less.

I've seen lemon vases/lamps like the tomato one, I would imagine that's where her inspiration comes from. I did spot a bag with tomatoes on in asda today. Now tempted to go buy it for £14.

WonderfulSmith · 11/06/2026 21:41

It zee bra ze bra a generational thing (Michelle aside)?

Zeeebra and ladybug ate american. It would be zebra and ladybird in the uk

Ifeeltheneedtheneedforcoffee · 11/06/2026 22:25

I can only see a few things on the n3xt website but its hard to navigate. Nothing too amazing but I quite like the green lamp. I wonder if rhey felt sophies style was too similar to sophie robinson who has a collection at rival dunelm

showmethegin · 11/06/2026 23:53

Weird series in general this year. It really needs a shake up next year. Of the finalists I’m glad lia won even though I’m a huge leopard print fan in general.

I think quality of the contestants was poorer than we’ve seen before but as I mentioned last week I just think Michelle has to go. She seems very flat too in top of her weird and inconsistent judging.

My vote would go to a panel of three; Banjo would have to be in there but I actually really like LLB too surprisingly! I think he quite clearly has a strong personal style but I think he does see the utility of a space well. Then maybe someone that comes from more of an architectural designer background? There were a few really strong choices made in that area that Michelle didn’t give credence to. Emmelys box for example

Pigeonatthewheel · 12/06/2026 00:08

Designing a collection for Next is an odd prize as designing products is not an interior designers job, granted some famous ones flog their own ranges having made a reputation in interior design. Can we not for once actually have an interior design show where they stick to the profession and don’t have to be upholstering, painting, upcycling etc. and are given a decent budget to work with.

I agree with every word. There have been previous contestants that won design contracts for different commercial spaces. Much more relevant.
