Whereas I've been seeing loads of articles about the Swedish performer on my social media. So maybe we should start a conspiracy theory about that as well?

Anyway, I'm just gutted Greece didn't win. It is definitely the song my kids will be requesting on repeat!

You could google and look for the images?

various newspapers found the Israeli government spent a lot of money on an advertising campaign & they were given a formal warning last year.

Sam Ryder - he had a brilliant song & the UK was seen favourably as being a country who were supporting Ukraine.

I saw ads with my own eyes, multiple times, in the US.

Naysayers can nay all they want. I know what I saw. I was disgusted.

Of all the songs, why is Belgiums's my ear worm?!

Our song is my earworm! And I haven't said that for a while about our Eurovision entry!

I think that’s part of the UK’s problem. No one is very good at picking artists. The Uk public voted on a show. That was a flop. Andrew Lloyd Webber tried didn’t work. Englebert Humperdinck was chosen and everyone was like is he still alive? Then it was a few pop stars and bands no one had heard of. Then Sam Ryder and a pop girl band which again no one had heard of and did alright. Need like a Simon Cowell type for Eurovision

We need a selection in the UK.

Where different people sing songs and the public vote for it.

That's what used to happen before and we used to do much better then.

Rather than something getting picked by the BBC.

Let the public decide who represents us.

I thought the uk song was a bit mediocre, it just didn't stand out enough.
I loved the Bulgarian entry.
I would like to see the uk do something totally different next year, I think it's time we entered a song in Welsh.
I never actually care if we do well, I just enjoy the whole spectacle of eurovision, I would like to see less AI in the staging, Greece was particularly guilty of this.
I enjoy the dancing as much as the singing.

I agree send in a Welsh Male Choir. I don't care if we win but our songs are soooo shit.

I voted for Israel because I just loved Noam's voice, and the actual song was pretty good too. Vocals sounded like silk to me.

Did you see him say the Shema (that's a prayer) when they were waiting for the final result? So sweet! (my husband is Jewish).

My husband is also Italian and coming out of an Annalisa concert earlier this month in Florence (she's an Italian popstar sort of like Rihanna meets Dua Lipa, but even better) he was amazed , turned to me and said "she's amazing, why can't we send someone like her to the Eurovision!". The quality of Italian music is really not well represented in this competition.

Anyway I'm very happy. It shows that no matter how loud the baying mob is and how loud their screams are to destroy the collective Jew, there are still good people in the world 🥰

Italy won just a few years ago and the group have become quite successful. MÃ¥neskin

NotMeAtAll · 17/05/2026 00:49

The UK's songs don't stand out, or else they're just bad. Sam Ryder did well, and so did the Andrew Lloyd Webber song. It's not anti-UK at all. Other countries send better entries.

My recollection is that was a disaster. We always chose terrible songs that did badly, which is why they changed it.

Comefromaway · 17/05/2026 00:50

i was locked inside a theatre with 12 children whilst Britain First were rampaging outside & banging on the doors.

then you had the Irish sectarianism too.

Racism was rife in the 70s too.

Yes, A Song for Europe- I agree with you

See, the Andrew Lloyd Webber pick did very well - top 10. As did Blue. Also top 10.

It's no shame whatsoever to come top 10 in a highly competitive contest.

This is part of the problem with the British approach - winning is seen as the object, whereas all the lefthand side of the board have done brilliantly IMO.

From what I understand he did the European circuit and really courted European audiences before the competition.

I was talking about this with DP tonight.

He already had a huge social media following too.

I totally agree that a song in Welsh would be fantastic.

The UK has such cultural variety. It's a truly unique little island. I have no idea why it doesn't put forth something that represents it's diverse lexical heritage more.

Who was calling who a bitch?!

The guy who presented the trophy to the winner.

Called her a bitch at least twice I think

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/05/2026 00:54

I think a Welsh song might be good, would be different at least.

Yeah I am always uncomfortable when a man calls a woman a bitch due to the loaded history of that word. I am sure that in his sub-culture he thinks its cute, but he is still a man using a slur to a woman that in the past has been used to precede harm.

Articles?

Or flat out, in your face, advertisements, urging Americans who might be supportive of Sweden as a political entory and as a society to vote for the Swedish entry?

There is a massive difference between articles and expensively produced advertisements.

I know why the algorithm sent those ads for the Israeli entry my way. I have no reason to believe I was the only person in the US to have checked the boxes I checked, or to have received those ads.

Comefromaway · 17/05/2026 00:56

He was using it as a term of endearment but someone needs to tell him it’s got connotations when said by a man to a woman.

Pearlyb · 17/05/2026 00:56

Comefromaway · 16/05/2026 23:30

That is rather mildly put 😅

The NF really isn’t archaic - it’s morphed into Yaxley-Lennon and his supporters.

If you grew up in the 90s then I’m surprised that you don’t remember Stephen Lawrence.

I’ll bow out now because I feel you are somehow making me into a racist which is what happens, I don’t know how you can misconstrued my sentiment that no one should be fighting anyone else. It’s is archaic that any human should be fighting any human no matter what colour, religion or nationality how can you find fault with the sentiment that in the modern world we should not be fighting each other?

Fast800goingforit · 17/05/2026 00:51

He already had a huge social media following too.

We were in Turin, and as soon as people knew we were British, they started singing Space Man to us.

I bet against Finland because they didn't have that easy hook for people to sing as fans. Space Man was impeccably sung but also says to repeat. (I also got a personal fist pump form Sam when we were sat near the green room).

I'm so pleased the Juries recognised that carrying off something like BangaRanga requires technical skill. I raged a lot about the lack of recognition of the theatre of Cha Cha Cha - a song in the same bracket of novelty as Eins Zwei Drei, which pulled off the quirky humour much better.

Comedy and fun require just as much skill to get right as high notes and belt notes - it's about time juries recognised that.

Agree! Scots Gaelic would be brilliant too, and the musical heritage of Scotland is a completely unmined seam for British entries. I would hope any culturally diverse British entry wouldn't end up as a cringeworthy kitsch embarrassment though.

I agree... we have amazing music here. I don't even mind if we do something traditionally like Gate and come last, but apart from Sam Ryder the actual songs have been really poor even if the performances have been great. Last years performance was good, but the song was just not working.

We need a reset. At least try and make a song that the British will buy.
