Just want to say that I'm sure the vast majority of men and women who've served are lovely, adjusted people. ☺️

But in my 45 years I've met 3 ex forces men. None of them were nice people.
I think it's a dangerous combo - someone who's got that much of an edge that they'd join the forces, and being single a little bit later in life.
And the bitterness that comes with that

I brought up my son to be very positive about gay people and to challenge homophobia.

Then he went to secondary school and began to use phrases like, "that's so gay" etc when chatting with his friends. Of course I challenged him about it, but unfortunately peer pressure is rife in schools.

He's now an adult and more mindful about his language and attitudes to others.

So, its not all down to how our sons are raised.
