There's preamble hosted by Jonathan Ross, from 10.15PM, who I quite like. Not sure who else will be doing that along with him.

Anyone watching?

I posted it on Telly Addicts, since its on TV, but will stick a link in film as well

Oscars Red Carpet is on now on YouTube - The Associated Press are covering it

Happy Oscars Night 🏆

Tbf the lady before went on for so long, I get why they tried cutting her off

Have just had caffeine. I really ought to have watched some of these to feel invested. I did start Zootopia 2 and considered renting tut tut baldy nut Emma Stone but that's as far as I got. I do like Jane Lynch. Might have to rewatch Glee or Wreck-it Ralph

I think I’m bowing out - my eyes are burning with tiredness

ComeOnPhilEarlySpringPlease · 15/03/2026 23:59

Have not yet seen Frankenstein but appeared to be a shoo-in.
Might have to call it quits soon too.
Damn, when did I get so old?!

bellabelly · 16/03/2026 00:17

I KNEW it was Matt Berry doing the continuity announcements - his voice is so distinctive! Have hardly seen any of the nominated films - just the ping pong one with Timothee Chalomet but I really want to see Sinners and One Battle After Another.

Bit weird that there are TWO winners in the Short Film category!

dogonthefloor · 16/03/2026 00:24

I've watched all but one of the best picture nominations (not seen the secret agent).
Wondering how long I can stay up for!

I just didn't like One Battle After Another. I know how highly regarded it is but, meh.

Do Americans find Conan funny? I don’t get him.

I normally watch and had to turn it off because I found it so cringeworthy.

PlasticFantas · 16/03/2026 00:57

He did the talkshow for years didn't he. Like their version of Graham Norton, only fucking huge.

Nice to see Sean Penn get an Oscar, even better that he wasn't there for it.

JaneJeffer · 16/03/2026 01:04

Sigourney Weaver looks so beautiful 😍

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2026 01:24

Watching here in Vancouver, Canada. 🏆
Lovely tribute to Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton and Robert Redford during the memorial segment. Was very nice Barbara Streisand sang as well.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2026 01:31

Excellent speech by David Borenstein, documentary winner. 👏

honeyrider · 16/03/2026 01:40

The Bridesmaid actresses were painful.

The Bridesmaid actresses were painful.

The bits almost always are cringe. It baffles how great actors can't manage a live skit.

Do Americans find Conan funny? I don’t get him.

"For the first time since 2011, there are no British actors nominated,” O’Brien said, adding: “But at least they arrest the pedophiles over there.”

Was a funny quip.

bellabelly · 16/03/2026 01:55

Hoorah for K Pop Demon Hunters!

bellabelly · 16/03/2026 01:55

Not sure I can stay up for the last 30 mins or so...

No major surprises or upsets this year. Pretty much corresponded with the SAG/Actor awards.

Did I miss it or did Jessie Buckley omit to mention her co star Paul Mescal in her speech?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/03/2026 10:17

love jessie buckley
fantastic worthy winner

Goingbacktoit · 16/03/2026 10:52

So glad Timothée Chamalet didn’t win, something about him I find unlikeable.
Glad One battle after another and sinners did well.

Don't think she did but gave him a big hug before going up so I'd say she just forgot with all the emotion. She gushed about him in other speeches

Glad I'm not the only one who finds Timothée unlikeable, there's something very creepy about him vibe off him any time I see him.

EasternStandard · 16/03/2026 11:48

I didn’t watch but seeing the pics. Some good outfits some not.

Is One Battle good? I always feel clean sweeps are a bit much.

Also I watched I Swear last night which was incredible on so many levels. Was that part of the awards? Not sure how it works on timing. It should get many imo

I thought he was okay until the icky grifting kicked in. He was so desperate to win that he went overboard on the promo and a lot of it, like releasing the sports jackets, definitely smacked of momager Kris Jenner's input. He just came across as arrogant and unlikeable all the time.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he dumps Kylie now so people will take him seriously again.
