CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in March 2008.

Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Yeah, and Tom - Liam's cousin. He's so annoying, and is really pissing me off. With his constant wet lettuce, passive, soft-voiced 'no Maria, stop thinking about it, get it out of your head, it's not what you think, you'll drive yourself crazy, it was an accident, blah blah blah blah bloody blah.' Sighing, and rolling his eyes and saying 'forget it Maria, no need to keep dwelling on it, yada yada bloody yada!!'

He has no right to tell her how she should feel, that she is wrong about everything, or that her feelings aren't valid, and the minimalising of her worries and fears - is really irksome. It's like he knows something, and he's trying to hide it by playing everything down. Michelle shutting her down instantly was also annoying.

Also very confused by The Windasses moving into the Mortons old place, and signing a rental contract that I assume is 1 year long? Just a few weeks ago they ordered a new kitchen from Tina's dad, for the house they were living in, that I assume was owned, (because no-one puts a new kitchen that cost £7,000 in a place they're renting!) I mean they never paid for it, but how come they're suddenly renting a place? What happened to their other house that they must have owned/had a mortgage on? It's quite feasible that they could have been repossessed or they abandoned it maybe, but this wouldn't all happen in a couple of weeks.

The storyline doesn't make sense to me.

How did Kevin get an invite anyway? I’m assuming the factory girls didn’t get a plus one? Was sophie left wondering around the red rec?

yes the Windass story around ordering the new kitchen makes no sense what so ever

I laughed at Natasha saying her SiL had given birth to a baby and was calling her Electra. Leccy for short.

I thought tony invited both Sally and Kevin aa a no hard feelings gesture because Kev wouldnt sell the garage?
Who cares where poor sophie is her own parents dont appear to give a shit .

Have to say I was also surprised that Kevin was at the wedding.

I also agree that Sophie is not treated well. Dozy Rosie gets all the attention. She annoys me so much when she pouts, and gives that 'aren't I sexy' look?!

What Sally did was shit - telling Maria about Carla and Liam - but Rosie has to take some of the blame! She filmed them in the first place!

Yeah they were terrible juat leave Maria out of it let her beleive Liam loved her.

I think it’s just a plot device to prompt Maria into single handedly solving Liam’s murder.

For some reason my box has decided to stop letting me record the entire series of Classic Corrie.

Weird. I've missed today's 2 episodes, but I've set the to record tomorrow morning. Then I checked tomorrow afternoon and there's no red record symbol by them, so I've set them up to record individually. The option to choose 'record all' had disappeared.

I've had a look at ITVx, but the episodes seem to be all over the place and I can't seem to find the ones currently showing.

Would finding them on YouTube help?

Yeah I noticed that... Our Freesat box had it on 'planned recordings' (on a series link,) and DH noticed at around 5pm or so that it wasn't recording. So he tried to see why, and it seemed it wasn't set/there was no planned recording for it. And as you say, it wouldn't let you set the 'series link.'

So we recorded the 2 episodes individually. (On ITV3+1.)

I am hoping it's a little glitch and it's working tomorrow. I just looked now, to see if I could set it for tomorrow, (the series link,) and it won't let me! I hope we're not going to have to do the individual programmes, because we will keep forgetting to set them! I mean, we can set 7 of them, but we will probably forget to keep setting them after that 7 days.

You can set them individually, for up to 7 days... Bit of a pain but it can be done....

But if you're away for 2 weeks or something!!! 😱

I've set up (individually) to record the early morning repeat of today's episodes, then tomorrow's afternoon episodes. When I get some time, I'll have to scroll through the whole week day by day to record. Tedious.

I know right @thenightsky it will be tedious doing them individually, and making sure we don't forget!!!

What a rotten addition to cast and storylines. I’m getting so sick of the violence and awful characters.
Also, surely at some point someone will tell Maria to get lost?
She’s turned into a frenzied detective, pouncing on anyone she meets and interrogating them…

I don’t think Eddie is in it that long? But Anna is and obviously Gary. They do make the Battersbys look classier though,just !

To all the posters who - like me - were annoyed at the series link dropping off (and only having the ability to record one Classic Corrie at a time,) it's back! On my Freesat box anyway.

I just checked 'planned recordings,' and the series link is back on and I didn't have to reset anything. It's just reset itself.

So have a look at your planned recordings, Classic Corrie should be back on series link ...

The Windas family probably didn’t land well during the credit crunch when a good number of viewers were working full time and struggling financially or facing uncertainty. It’s very hard to find a workless/cash in hand family endearing under those circumstances.

I don’t think the writers were at fault because they probably decided to replace the Mortons many months prior and I guess they thought that Eddie would be a sound replacement for Les Battersby, who ended up being a popular character. It misfired.

I completely missed what happened to the police officer Morton (Mel?) I didn’t think she went to Spain with Jerry but she seems to have disappeared
