CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in March 2008.

Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Wonder where we'll all be at when this thread ends?!

She turned up at the shop and basically went all “I thought you liked me, you don’t return my calls, I thought we had something special, what’s wrong, it’s ok to be scared, it can really work out between us” and he tried to put her off but in the end said “I’m crazy about you” and that was that!

agree they’re awful. What amused me as well, was David’s mate saying what a gangster family they were and how he should be scared, especially of the uncle, and then we see the uncle who basically acted like a pantomime villain

Anna windass changes so much during her time on Corrie. Like dev, bad writing I think, to change someone’s personality so much.
Re Fizz, watching the cheating storyline and then the kidnap storyline, and how it’s all affected her, it’s hard to believe what happens next with her. Don’t want to say too much as not sure what we’re allowed to say on here, can’t really be a spoiler when it was aired 20 years ago but I guess some people watching might not know what happens. I do find it really interesting to watch old eps knowing what happens next. Is it characters developing naturally, and normal actions and reactions, or is it bad writing?? From now on, I think it’s bad writing, the days of excellent Corrie are sadly gone now in my view

I did laugh at Tina, Graham, and David smashing up The Windasses kitchen, it looks like the Windasses have met their match.

I have to say though, that didn't look like a £7000 kitchen to me. That seemed far too much for that kitchen .. (In 2008.) It looked like an average quality MFI one that DH and I put in our house in 2007, when we wanted to sell our house. The one we had was 20 years old and looked dated (it was a mid 1980s one,) and we wanted one that looked a bit more up to date but not expensive.

It was a small kitchen - like the Windasses one, and looked very similar to theirs. It was £3000 at the time. £7000 was crazy for that kitchen in 2008 IMO. If I had been The Windasses, I wouldn't have paid £7000 for that average quality, small kitchen either LOL!!!

I wonder what's up with Hayley? She didn't seem quite right when she got back to the street. Something seems to be bothering her.

Then again, the Windasses could have quite easily got new cupboard doors if Tina, David, and Graham had only taken them. They wouldn't pay for any of the kitchen, so they didn't deserve any of it.

In wrecking the kitchen they definitely did go too far imo but it's all of a piece with the stupidly unnecessary decline of the programme which took a plunge with the arrival of the Connors. Criminality becomes the norm (is there anyone who hasn't been banged up at some point? Of course, some people are innocent because the police arrest people on scanty evidence and keep them imprisoned. Where's the CPS when you need them? Most people have short fuses and lash out blindly. Nobody tells the simple truth when they can lie elaborately and then bleat that they were "trying to protect you." Characters have personality transplants to suit the "story lines." I don't know why I continue to half-watch/follow this programme other than it's a lazy habit I can't seem to shake.

Could Michelle be more bossy and demanding about her bloody paaartay? I find the whole character intensely irritating but she's gone into overdrive over this anniversary do.

Well it looks like Steve has seen the light!

I agree about Michelle. She has been hugely annoying and high maintenance for about a year now. She is very pretty, but she's too much like hard work. No wonder Steve is leaning towards Becky. She's a bit wild, but has a good heart, and I think is lovely deep down, and she doesn't have all the baggage that Michelle has. Michelle was so annoying today.

I wonder what Blanche is going to do with the information - about Steve and Becky?

Also, MARY (Taylor) has come into it. As Norris's new friend, who wins a lot of competitions, and wants to take him to the Cliff Richard concert she has won tickets for.

Blanche is a horrible woman. See the glee in her eyes when Steve was on the stand talking about his 'affair'. <shudder>

Is this the convoluted way Number 8 is going to get a new kitchen - complete with the very badly-done tiling?

I used to cut Blanche a lot of slack because I enjoyed her acerbic asides and caustic comments but more and more she shows a nasty side of her personality. She's cruel and judgemental. Some characters are forgiven for nosiness and taking the moral high ground etc etc as they are considered to "have a good heart." I don't think Blanche does.

I’ve been finding Michelle really annoying the last few episodes with her telling Steve what to do. I know he can say no and wish he would instead of letting Michelle railroad over him

Yep. Me too. It’s very odd. Carla and Maria are the only ones really affected by Liam’s death. And for Michelle, she lost two brothers and a husband in car accidents, you’d think she’d be falling apart

Agree 100% about Liam/Michelle's parents and how they're reacting after Liam death. And yes, Michelle's acting a bit odd too. They're acting like they've had their car stolen, not lost 2 sons/2 brothers! (And Michelle lost her husband of course.) Very odd behaviour. I know people grieve differently, but all 3 of them aren't acting devastated like you would expect, indeed the father is acting (some of the time,) like it's PARTY TIME!!!! Weird.

Agree with the comments on here about Michelle, she is annoying and bossy, but I don't like this being a nasty twat to her til she dumps ME thing Steve is doing. That's the sort of thing lads in their teens/early 20s do when they want to finish with a girl they've been seeing for a few months, and they're too chicken shit to finish with her. They treat her badly, in the hope that she'll finish with him.

Steve's behaviour was appalling today... I would have gone postal on my DH (at the point we had been together 2 years and lived together,) if he had caused an argument deliberately, and didn't come to a wedding we were meant to be going to together.

Steve is in his mid 30s, he lives with Michelle, he's been with her a couple of years, and she works for him. He should not be behaving like he is.

What he's doing is unpleasant and very unkind, just because he is too cowardly to say 'it's not working any longer, I think we should call it a day.' Becky seemed to have a prick of conscience earlier today, but then she started acting like a 14 year old lovestruck teenager in the pub with him, with their 'drinking game.'

What utter shitstorm has SALLY started?! 😱 Imagine thinking it's OK to tell Maria what she did. Carla was very rude to her though - at the wedding.

And why the hell did sally tell Maria the truth regardless of how carla treated her Maria has lost her husband and a baby just let the poor girl beleive Liam loved her.
