CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in March 2008.

Wow soooo much has happened since the last thread was started - almost a year ago... We were in June 2006, and now we're in March 2008.

Keith was still in the street then, (who was dating Audrey,) and had just been booted out of his house by Charlie Stubbs. Now Charlie is dead after being killed by TracyLuv who is in prison now, and is never seen!

Les Battersby left in 2007 after going to work as a roadie with a band.

Ronnie was in it (Steve's girlfriend at the time) and was trying to set Steve up for a hit and run she had done. And Lloyd had just joined. Streetcars.

Mike Baldwin had just died. (Early 2006.)

Leanne Battersby and Mike's son Danny Baldwin were still together (after he left his wife Frankie for Leanne.). And in late 2006 Danny's son Jamie Baldwin (who was dating barmaid Violet Wilson) started having an affair with Danny's ex - wife Frankie... (His stepmum!) Obviously Violet finished with him.

Now Jamie has just left the street with Violet, (after they made it up,) with a baby she has had with Sean Tully. (Sean and Violet were platonic friends.) Sean is distraught that they have left, and he doesn't know where they've gone.

Janice and Cilla were at each others throats, but now Cilla has gone - to live in Las Vegas, leaving poor Chesney with Kirk and Fiz.

Amber had just arrived back then - Dev's daughter, and now she's part of the furniture!

Ashley was fighting for the right to keep Joshua after his bio dad Matt said he wants him. They had a court order for Matt to have access, but Matt has hardly been seen since!

Poor old Fred Elliot has died! (October 2006.) He was just about to marry Shelley's mum Bev too. Ashley's butcher shop is starting to have problems. (Financially.) Bev and Shelley are no longer on the street.

And now we have Tina McIntrye who only came into Corrie a few weeks ago, and is with David Platt, and currently pregnant by him!

The Mortons joined not long ago, and have the kebab shop, and new owners of the bookies have surfaced. Father and son. (Harry and Dan.) Both currently sort of dating Kelly Crabtree and her long legs! But Dan is starting to have eyes for Leanne.

Jason and Sarah got married in late 2007, but it didn't last long, after Jason saw Sarah as spoilt and selfish, and uncaring (after her brother David ran his car into the canal and she only cared about her wedding.) David was offered a job with his uncle Stephen (In Milan,) and Sarah tricked Stephen into thinking David was a drug addict, and she had the job instead! (David had had some drugs a little while back that Bethany had accidently eaten, so Stephen believed Sarah.) Jason and Sarah have now split and Sarah is now living in Milan with uncle Stephen, and she's taken Bethany with her!

Vera Duckworth died very suddenly just a few weeks ago, leaving Jack devastated. His grandson Paul - and Molly and Tyrone have been consoling him. Although Paul did just steal £3000 off Jack via a betting slip that Jack had lost and Paul found. So he takes after his father - Terry!

Big Jim McDonald came back after trying to stop Elizabeth (his ex wife Liz) from marrying Vernon. The slightly-annoying-and-ever-so-bonkers-but-still-nice-and-stable musician she has been dating for a while (on and off!) They were dating for a while, then Liz had an affair with Derek - Newton and Ridley delivery man! That was quite short lived and Vernon forgave her and Liz and Vernon got married in December 2007.

Rosie Webster has had a fling with her teacher, John Stape - who was dating Fiz! That caused a big furore, as Kevin hit John, and then went to jail for 2 weeks for it.

Roy Cropper just got back from Mozambique where he has been visiting his wife Hayley who is a volunteer out there.

Maria is pregnant by Liam Connor, and Liam's sister in law Carla is jealous and has tried to come between them. Liam got hurt on a recent trip to the Lake District with Maria, and called out Carla's name when he was drifting in and out oof conciousness! Despite this Maria still agreed to marry Liam!

Oh, and Leanne is getting bored running her restaurant! And Chesney is starting to really struggle at home with no mother or father there.

Probably much more that I have missed out.

Wonder where we'll all be at when this thread ends?!

If The Rovers has a cellar, surely all the other houses along the street would each have one aswell?
None of the residents ever mention having a cellar!

You would think?
The whole lay out makes no sense with extra rooms appearing and disappearing at will
Mysterious cellars.

Can anyone explain to me what the storyline about Norris, Rita, Emily and 'the photos' is about please? I understand Norris went snooping in Emily's room and found pics of Rita. But I don't understand why Rita now thinks that Emily holds a grudge against her.

I know right! 😆 I was PMSL at that! 🎵 'Please don't fall into the Mason's Arms.........' 🎵 Poor Vernon. I know that he was a bit of a lad when he came into the show, but Liz has treated him badly really. First she was messing about with Jim (just before she married Vernon,) then she was having a fling with Derek the delivery man, (a few months later,) and now Harry. She also told Vernon that she had made a mistake marrying him!

The woman dev is having an affair with is so weird. She’s supposed to be some kind of gorgeous femme fatale but I’m just not seeing it. And the way she acts and speaks makes me never want to watch this programme again!!

I agree. I'm not seeing it either. She doesn't look like any Bollywood star I have ever seen. She is a very irritating character IMO, acting all provocative and alluring.🙄I'll be glad when she's gone. Awful storyline IMO.

Auntie Pam is growing on me a little bit. I was impressed with how she tore a strip off Tyrone's mum Jackie. She's so horrible, ripping off her own son like that, and speaking to him like she did! And now Tyrone is going to be a test subject for new medicines and drugs to raise some money as his mum took £1000 off him and Molly. No way would I do that!

I never thought of that! None of the houses have a cellar but the pub does. I don't know if it automatically means that all the houses should have a cellar if the pub at the end of the street does. I'm not sure to be honest...

So, what happened is that Emily was at a cashpoint in town and forgot her personal PIN for her debit card, so she rang Norris and asked him to get it for her. She said 'it's in my bedroom in the little bedside cabinet.' So Norris went to get it, and he found a sealed envelope with 'not to be opened til after my death' written on it.

He told Rita about it, and she told him to leave it and stop being nosey. Anyway, he couldn't stop thinking about it, and asked Emily what it was - and she said 'it's my business' and shut him down. He wouldn't let it go, so the next day Emily presented Norris with the envelope and said 'open it then!' So he opened it and it was her will. She took it back off him. Later that day he saw the envelope in the bin.

He then realised that the envelope in question had been sealed up, and the one she gave him was open and had never been sealed, (and now it was in the bin!) so he knew it wasn't the one had had seen in the drawer. So he had an idea. He would open the one he had seen in the drawer if it was still there - see what was in it, and then pop it back in the unused, never-seen envelope (as it also said 'not to be open until after my death' on it,) and seal it up and put it back.

When he opened the envelope, there were a number of photos (about a dozen) of Rita, posing like a model in a few slightly skimpy outfits. He was shocked and put them back, (in the new envelope, and sealed the envelope.)

He told Rita what he had seen, and she said Ernest - Emily's late husband - had taken some photos of her for publicity shots when she was trying to make it as a singer many years ago, but she didn't know why on earth Emily had hold of all these photos of her, and she is wondering if Emily may be cross with her because she thought something had been going on with her and Ernest.

That's where it's got to at the moment. I don't think Emily is annoyed with Rita or that she resents her as she has shown no signs that she does, but it's baffling that she has kept all these photos of Rita that her husband took, (which I can only assume are copies..) And why was it in an envelope with 'not to be opened before my death' on it?

I'm sure all will be revealed in the coming weeks on Classic Corrie.

I think it was the same pub because Mel saw her limping then they went out and you could see the police and ambulance were there in the background

It was all filmed in and around the old Lime Bar in Salford Quays changed to the Milk Bar on the show

Going back a few episodes to when Mel and her policewoman friend try to break up a brawl, the credits have the brawling girls listed at Chav1!

The language used back then, and it’s only 2008 was awful. Homophobic and sexist.

So it looks like The Mortons are leaving for Spain now - most of them anyway. Jerry, Kayleigh, and Finlay ... (Mel and Darryl care s staying in the UK.) Funny how it's so easy to just uproot your life and move abroad on Corrie. 😆

I was liking Jerry and Mel is ok but the rest can go to Spain but wouldn’t Theresa have something to say about it? Did they have people checking who everyone was at the airport and needing permission from the other parent like they do now?

Hmmm, yes I think permission is generally needed from both parents to take a child out of the country (UK.) But I wonder if this applies if one has got full custody? I don't know a lot about this. I guess you may still need permission?

What if you are hugely estranged from the father of the child(ren) or the mother, or they have been abusive or a threat to the children? I suppose certain extreme cases would be the exception.

Does Jerry have custody of Finlay though? I didn’t think Finlay was his but I also don’t know much about this @SabreIsMyFave

Oooh, I'm not sure @JewelleryCat It did feel a bit like Finlay just kind of started living with Jerry (and his siblings) because Theresa was hopeless at looking after him. Not sure if he ever had custody.

Oh, and Michelle is back after her 'tour.' I haven't missed her.. She's still annoying, even when she's not being moany and angsty! 😆 I did laugh when Steve was looking at his phone when she was yabbering on and on about her 3-4 weeks away, and going on about a place that was 'just like somewhere in The Sound Of Music, but not in The Alps.' Not like a place in The Sound of Music is it then you dumb brunette! That was set almost entirely in The Alps!

Its all a bit vague but theresa said she stayed with jerry for a bit after Finlay was born clearly Finlay cant be Jerrys child but if they were married would he not be the legal father like Ashley is to Joshua?

I was never sure of the background and history of that @JewelleryCat I don't know if she was still married to Jerry, and had an affair, or if they were divorced and she started a thing with someone else. I think it must have been very brief with Finlay's father, because she tried to say Lloyd was his father, and indicated Finlay's father was a one night stand. But she lies so much that it's hard to know what's true and what isn't.

Fun fact the actress that played Kayleigh is the real life daughter in law of Henry Winkler " The Fonze" she married his son!

Fascinating @x2boys I think she became quite popular in American programmes didn't she? The actress Jessica Barden. She's been in LOADS since she left Corrie.

It’s very confusing regarding the children and whether Jerry has custody of Finlay but then again, soaps don’t care about stuff like that lol. You can pack up and start a new life with no visa, no need to learn a new language, sometimes a job and everything works out
