Starts next week

The Curfew is the latest crime thriller to land on Channel 5, after its original release on Paramount+ in October 2024. Based on a bestselling novel, it explores themes of gender, safety, and surveillance.

6 parts. On over 2 week on Mon Tue and Wed. And following week

so 16/17/18

23/24/25

The series brings together a fantastic cast including Sarah Parish, Mandip Gill, and Anita Dobson.

The compelling premise is set in a dystopian world where men’s movements are restricted by strict rules.

But, when someone commits a heinous crime, it throws ordered society into chaos.

Could a man have been responsible, despite the controlled environment they are living in?

A woman is murdered late at night and evidence suggests she knew her attacker. It couldn’t have been a man because a Curfew tag is a solid alibi… Isn’t it?”

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Channel 5 crime drama (https://www.tvguide.co.uk/articles/the-au-pair-channel-5-five-best-thrillers-my5-castaways-wives-ex-wife-teacher-inheritance/) The Curfew, including plot, cast, start date, and location…

Crime thriller The Curfew on Channel 5 is set in an alternate universe where all men and boys over 10 live under The Women’s Safety act.

They are all bound by a strict curfew from 7pm to 7am every night.

An ankle tag tracks their every move 24 hours a day.

Men cannot move in with partners without a government-vetted “cohabitation certificate”.

Women feel safe to walk the streets at night, and walk home alone.

They don’t fear violent attacks or sexual assaults.

However, this all changes when a crime takes place in a relatively crime free environment.

The synopsis tells us: “Maverick Detective Pamela Green suspects a man is responsible when a dead body is found on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre during curfew hours.

This threatens to unravel the revered Women’s Safety Act and those determined to protect it at all costs.”

In a world where men are under curfew at night and an ankle tag tracks their every move, is it possible for a man to have committed a crime?

The Cufew on Channel 5 stars a pretty impressive cast led by Sarah Parish as Detective Pamela Green.

Of course, TV viewers will know Sarah best for her roles in Peak Practice, Hearts and Bones, Cutting It, Mistresses, Monroe, and Bancroft.

Mandip Gill plays Sarah, a character who works at a tagging center. Mandip is known for playing Doctor Who, and recent C5 detective drama Cooper & Fry (https://www.tvguide.co.uk/articles/cooper-fry-channel-5-cast-brilliant-new-crime-drama-rob-james-collier-mandip-gill/).

Alexandra Burke stars as Helen, in her first TV acting role. She is better known as a singer. She famously won the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, and subsequently released her own music. She’s also made quite the name for herself in West End musicals.

Larry Lamb appears as Rhys. He’s famous for playing Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey, and Archie Mitchell in EastEnders.

Lucy Benjamin plays DCI Sue Ferguson. She’s also known for EastEnders, having played Lisa Fowler on and off between 1998 to 2023.

And another EastEnders icon appearing in The Curfew is Anita Dobson. She plays Janet in the thriller but, of course, is most famous for portraying Angie Watts in the BBC One soap.

I’m binge watching them now and am finding it hard to keep up so thanks for the thread it helps.

all I keep thinking about though is why Detective Pamela Green is STILL wearing the worn clothes from lost and found. Was she allowed to keep her own knickers or did she have to give them up for forensics with the rest of her clothes? Is she going commando in someone else’s trackie bottoms?

my mind wondering is probably why I’m finding it hard to follow

I was literally thinking the same

she got knocked out in own home but didn’t get changed out of the awful purple top and think green trousers

Scammersafterme · 25/02/2026 20:55

for me it’s when she was told she smelt like a crime scene and just put some deodorant on

they were red trackie bottoms with a white stripe. god knows where they came from…shudder

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2026 21:17

Red. Thats right

guess came from the spare clothes box in station

Wasnt it from school lost property?

I’m not sure which would be worse school or station

I’m enjoying it but think it would be better as only 4 episodes with less characters in it rather than 6

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 25/02/2026 22:12

Station for sure

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2026 22:18

I’m enjoying and for a ch 5 drama it’s good

I look away for a minute and I’m confused by what’s happening! The whole family are involved?!

purpleme12 · 25/02/2026 22:58

Oooh I quite wanted to know what she was going to say

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 25/02/2026 23:08

I’m watching again on plus 1.

maybe the purple sweatshirt was to distinguish between timelines.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2026 09:39

oh my goodness, well that was definitely a turnaround

But yeah, seems the whole family minus the younger son and grandad were in on it

The son max I think / as his tag wasn’t properly connected meant he could go out as much as he wanted And he killed the teacher because she spurned his advances

The dad was a bully and a abuser and the wife was trying to get away but couldn’t

Nice to know that LUCY from EastEnders a.k.a. her boss wasn’t a baddie and didn’t falsify the records

Poor grandad been thrown And probably died as was OLD and frail

Nice to know that it wasn’t cass or SARAH And that it kinda ended happily after all that

All in all a really good Channel 5 drama and kept us to the edge of our toes thinking at first it was EDDIE and then it was SARAH and then CATH and turned out. It’s actually the DAD who said ever had an affair with and be honest partly her fault that her best friend died.

Sorry for capitals here and there, but this done by voice text And my phone seems to like using capitals for some names
