Starts next week

The Curfew is the latest crime thriller to land on Channel 5, after its original release on Paramount+ in October 2024. Based on a bestselling novel, it explores themes of gender, safety, and surveillance.

6 parts. On over 2 week on Mon Tue and Wed. And following week

so 16/17/18

23/24/25

The series brings together a fantastic cast including Sarah Parish, Mandip Gill, and Anita Dobson.

The compelling premise is set in a dystopian world where men’s movements are restricted by strict rules.

But, when someone commits a heinous crime, it throws ordered society into chaos.

Could a man have been responsible, despite the controlled environment they are living in?

A woman is murdered late at night and evidence suggests she knew her attacker. It couldn’t have been a man because a Curfew tag is a solid alibi… Isn’t it?”

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Channel 5 crime drama (https://www.tvguide.co.uk/articles/the-au-pair-channel-5-five-best-thrillers-my5-castaways-wives-ex-wife-teacher-inheritance/) The Curfew, including plot, cast, start date, and location…

Crime thriller The Curfew on Channel 5 is set in an alternate universe where all men and boys over 10 live under The Women’s Safety act.

They are all bound by a strict curfew from 7pm to 7am every night.

An ankle tag tracks their every move 24 hours a day.

Men cannot move in with partners without a government-vetted “cohabitation certificate”.

Women feel safe to walk the streets at night, and walk home alone.

They don’t fear violent attacks or sexual assaults.

However, this all changes when a crime takes place in a relatively crime free environment.

The synopsis tells us: “Maverick Detective Pamela Green suspects a man is responsible when a dead body is found on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre during curfew hours.

This threatens to unravel the revered Women’s Safety Act and those determined to protect it at all costs.”

In a world where men are under curfew at night and an ankle tag tracks their every move, is it possible for a man to have committed a crime?

The Cufew on Channel 5 stars a pretty impressive cast led by Sarah Parish as Detective Pamela Green.

Of course, TV viewers will know Sarah best for her roles in Peak Practice, Hearts and Bones, Cutting It, Mistresses, Monroe, and Bancroft.

Mandip Gill plays Sarah, a character who works at a tagging center. Mandip is known for playing Doctor Who, and recent C5 detective drama Cooper & Fry (https://www.tvguide.co.uk/articles/cooper-fry-channel-5-cast-brilliant-new-crime-drama-rob-james-collier-mandip-gill/).

Alexandra Burke stars as Helen, in her first TV acting role. She is better known as a singer. She famously won the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, and subsequently released her own music. She’s also made quite the name for herself in West End musicals.

Larry Lamb appears as Rhys. He’s famous for playing Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey, and Archie Mitchell in EastEnders.

Lucy Benjamin plays DCI Sue Ferguson. She’s also known for EastEnders, having played Lisa Fowler on and off between 1998 to 2023.

And another EastEnders icon appearing in The Curfew is Anita Dobson. She plays Janet in the thriller but, of course, is most famous for portraying Angie Watts in the BBC One soap.

I haven't heard of a Valerie Rashid before??

And I thought Choose Me was Eddie

And the woman we saw in the street at the end was Sarah

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 24/02/2026 00:00

oh dear I really must pay attention.

what’s the young girl called who Billy likes? But she likes the new lad Max?

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 00:06

Do you mean Cass?

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 24/02/2026 01:28

Yes her!

I have no idea where I got Valerie rashid from.

Wasn’t it Cass walking away from Helen’s road? Eddie (the policeman) did go into the chat rooms as a good force in the chat rooms. Well that’s what he told Billy.

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 06:55

Oh I thought he was Choose me?
Do you not think that?

I thought it was Sarah at the end?
Which would make sense as she's the one accused

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 07:37

As so much on last night at 9 - I haven’t seen yet. Will watch today

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 14:01

Ok. Totally confused. Will find a recap

so they make us think all e4 that it was Eddie being chosen me 1-5

but was actually cass - Sarah’s daughter

think jt was her at the end

which makes sense as she hates Helen

if Helen had any brains she should save that transcript or tar a screen shot of it so if it came out with her saying she likes boys , she could prove it had to say it in a video session - as then she wouldn’t care about her job or her boss knowing as she would be labelled a paedaphile

meanwhile guessing sarah knows cass killed her friend but is protecting her and why she said she did it

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 14:04

Yep was cass at end

Yay i got that bit right
Yes it was very confusing, leading us to believe it was Eddie.

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 14:44

Oh ok I guess that makes sense

I so didn't get that

And I didn't even realise it was Cass at the end either!

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 14:56

Why was Eddie setting a table with no one there? What was that about?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 14:58

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 14:56

Why was Eddie setting a table with no one there? What was that about?

It was for his date but he missed /forgot about it

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 15:01

At his house? But he must have been on call to be called out? Why would he have a date when he's on call?

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 24/02/2026 16:31

purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 15:01

At his house? But he must have been on call to be called out? Why would he have a date when he's on call?

Cos he’s a man and they don’t plan these things properly?
I know, not all men. Tbf most of the men I know are much more organised than me.

it did seem like bad planning.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 20:44

E5 tonight

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 22:28

Surely if Sarah’s ex hubby and cass dad said his car wouldn’t start , someone would have gone to him once tag was alerted that he was out past curfew and saw his car wouldn’t start so had a good excuse for breaking curfew

not sure why he went to prison for years as he had proof and a reason why out

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 22:32

I don't like how they made it look like Eddie was Chooseme yesterday

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2026 22:40

It was a good twist but obv at the end we knew he wasn’t

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 24/02/2026 23:14

It said that Sarah said she killed Helen to save Cass, not to cover for her.

But how is that saving Cass? I don't get it

I mean clearly it's not saving Cass as Cass is in trouble

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2026 00:35

I’m not sure but Sian’s hubby has kidnapped cass and is the blackmailer

glad Sian’s son didn’t play the video of Helen liking boys

so Helen and sarah argued. Helen dropped sarah in it over the lasering

tho who was the police lady at Pam’s. Surely it cant be sue. One of Pam’s besties !!

so Ben probably prob killed Helen

im guessing that sarah think cass kills Helen and why she did she did it

There's a lot of plotlines to keep up with and how different people weave into the storylines each time

Scammersafterme · 25/02/2026 15:57

I’m binge watching them now and am finding it hard to keep up so thanks for the thread it helps.

all I keep thinking about though is why Detective Pamela Green is STILL wearing the worn clothes from lost and found. Was she allowed to keep her own knickers or did she have to give them up for forensics with the rest of her clothes? Is she going commando in someone else’s trackie bottoms?

my mind wondering is probably why I’m finding it hard to follow

I admit I was thinking that about the purple hoody too.
