Love this series. Back next Sunday

tho the rich families who own their own business etc - I hope they don’t do the usual ‘free training’ to the poorer families and then get them to start their own companies

I watched yesterday but found it a bit daft. What was the charity shop all about? They didn’t need anything so that was completely performative.
I kind of wonder now if people go on it with an expectation that they will be given something life altering at the end.

purpleme12 · 24/03/2026 07:42

Well to be fair I expect they do yes
You can't blame them for that when it's become a pre-requisite for the show that the rich people do that now

To be fair, her 3 days were 12 hour shifts so that alone is full-time hours, plus cleaning on top. But I agree about the house, it seems like it wasn’t a priority. She kept saying “the wallpaper is coming off the walls” but it had obviously been peeled/scraped off, it wasn’t just turning up at the corners. And she was covered in tattoos that must have cost thousands.

And if he is a courier he must have transport. In which case he could easily have got rid of the crap in the garden.

Yeah I work 3 12 hour shifts a week which is 36 hours plus overtime . So she was working a lot of hours. The son could of easily had a job though

I’m sick of this bollocks, I would only take this seriously if we had a full financial breakdown, with child benefit x 3, hopefully maintenance from the father a wage and universal credit there should be more than £52 a week left.

Yes I know they are in debt but how can someone with a 1st class degree in business management have got into such a mess?

purpleme12 · 29/03/2026 17:46

Which episode are you watching?

Nevergotdivorced · 29/03/2026 21:04

The most recent.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/03/2026 21:38

Like so many other long running series, this seems to have gone to the end of the road.

purpleme12 · 29/03/2026 22:36

The rich dad and his ex must have a good relationship if he stays at the house sometimes

Oh right thought you must have been watching an earlier one cos it wasn't on till 9

They must have started putting it on 5od earlier

Nevergotdivorced · 29/03/2026 22:47

Why spend 3 years doing a business management degree when you want to open a restaurant?
Just go to catering college.
She was driving a Range Rover!
This programme always leaves me wanting to know the full facts.

The rope toilet roll holder makes me feel ill

I didn't see that!

purpleme12 · 30/03/2026 00:01

At the beginning of the programme it said the 'poor house' had seen better days

I was left wondering what it meant by that as the house looked picture perfect apart from one drawer which was a bit broken!
The garden perhaps wasn't picture perfect but even that could have just done with tidy up. It had a trampoline and it already had nice garden table and chairs anyway. The rich family just sent one step further with sprucing the garden up completely

Greyblankie · 30/03/2026 06:51

How boring was last nights episode? The “poor” house was actually very nice and they drove a Range Rover!? Infact the poor family car was actually nicer than the car the rich family travelled in. Plus they didn’t seem to be struggling grocery wise, the meals they were making looked lovely.

The rich house wasn’t mind blowingly spectacular - just a decent sized normal house with a little garden.

How did the poor family rake up so much debt when one of them supposedly has a business degree? I’ll never understand people who allow themselves to get into such ridiculous levels of debf. Poor choices rather than lack of funds by looks of it. Sell the Range Rover maybe 🙄

RosesAndHellebores · 30/03/2026 08:38

Where were the children? The poor family struck me as in debt due to champagne tastes on beer money. The degree certificate I saw was a 2nd from Southampton Solent. I'd like to know how many graduate jobs either had applied for and what the interview feedback was. Similarly, I'd like to know what the educational achievements of the rich kids are and who funded the son's shop and why the daughter isn't getting experience beyond her dad's company.

purpleme12 · 30/03/2026 08:46

She probably wants to go into her dad's company. Lots of people go into the family company don't they. Yeah it's the easy option but 🤷‍♀️

The 'poor' family's children stayed with their dad

purpleme12 · 30/03/2026 08:49

Last night's did feel different though

OnTheBoardwalk · 30/03/2026 10:11

So the poor family got their debts paid off, house refresh and the opportunity of £100k just for spending the money on going to the races and holding a BBQ? I’m wondering about the food regulations required….

yep didn’t like this episode, I don’t see the point and this still disturbs me this morning.

This series seems very much about a PR opportunity/publicity stunt for business owners, rather than any socio/cultural juxtaposition of different lives. It used to be about helping each family appreciate potential changes.

Yes I agree, it's totally lost it's way....

cramptramp · 30/03/2026 13:11

No one poor drives a Range Rover. Even if owned outright, the insurance and running costs are very high. I’m giving up on this programme. I’d like it to go back to how it was when it started.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2026 13:43

Just watching not so haven’t read comments yet

both have degrees but very poor £53 a week and a brown washing machine

not sure why kids didn’t go on the swap

maybe he has 50/50 so no cms

rich dad doesn’t actually live in the house then - only when ex wife is away

why doesn’t he sell it as buy a family home

did look a very nice car poor people had - how did she afford 🙀🙀🙀

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2026 13:48

So they live off £53 a week including for food but cook meals for rich family
