Welcome to Thread 8 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far (as at end of Ep 6):

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)
Harriet (Faithful)

Jessie, James and Adam are the potential murder candidates, but both Jessie and James have shields.

The floor is yours…

And Matt got the shower scene! I didn't see that coming!

Didn’t we see him doing a partially clothed headstand or something equally bizarre? Also, if other sites are to be believed Matt is definitely not shy about being pictured in rather less than his pants

Rachel has actually shown a little of her human side, when she was talking about wearing her bracelets and how she had one for each of her children.

I must admit I've warmed to her a bit after that.

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2026 15:07

When was the shower scene? I completely missed it and need to check whether he was being objectified.

I think this is absolutely true. There’s always someone who pops up and protests that this is just a game, but we’re seeing people operating under pressure and no matter what they set out to do - Hugo, Fiona, Hilary, even blushing Stephen - their real personalities end up surfacing and they win or lose by how likeable they’ve been with the others. We have a front row seat into what the contestants are actually like under pressure! Even their friends may not have had that.

It is just a game and they are under pressure. So far Rachel has shown she is good under pressure and doesn't lose her cool, shout, cut others off when they are speaking or behave rudely. If she is Head of Communications these are all really important character traits. I don't believe she will throw Stephen under the bus unless she has to, I may be wrong about that.

Nothing Rachel has done indicates an unpleasant person. Someone who is good at playing games and keeping their emotions in check, absolutely, but these aren't unpleasant character traits just qualities you need to play games well, or succeed in PR.

I'm not sure why Rachel playing as a traitor well is attracting criticism. It did remind me of things said about Harry in series 2, again someone who could play the game without letting emotion get in the way.

With last night’s cabin I did expect a bunch of them to refuse taking part on the grounds the mission could be anxiety-inducing.

I was most annoyed that it didn’t keep going until there was only one person left alone absolutely shitting themself

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/01/2026 15:10

Beachtastic · 16/01/2026 14:48

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have occasional fantasies about how well I'd get on in the castle.

In my dreams, everyone simply adores me, and I am so lively and engaging and just altogether so insightful that everyone is hanging on my every word. The editing team have difficulty cutting any of the scenes I'm in. They reluctantly do so because otherwise none of the other players would make much of an appearance on screen, but the televised round tables inevitably get a bit longer so as to accommodate my wonderful speeches. At some point, probably in the final, I seize an opportunity to make a breathtakingly gracious gesture (not sure what, obvs, but I'm sure I'd think of something).

I suspect the reality is a bit more difficult than that 😜 especially as I am really gullible and stupid!!

I love playing games and am insanely competitive. But I'd be dreadful under the amount of pressure they have to deal with. I'd be begging for the loo on missions and crash under the pressure of the round table.

IVotedForYourself · 16/01/2026 15:10

Matthew reminds me of Forrest Gump

I don't think she is finding it as easy as she makes it seem.

PotteryChuck · 16/01/2026 15:14

I see Rachel as warm, very likable and would love her to win. She deserves it!

She's playing a great game so far.

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 16/01/2026 15:15

I don’t think they do the share/steal thing. Claudia has said from the start any traitors left split the money. Wouldn’t be fair to make a rule change late in the game.

AuntyAngela · 16/01/2026 15:15

C8H10N4O2 · 16/01/2026 14:53

Are you mixing her up with Fiona? Fiona repeatedly boasted about her lying skills IRL (or “white” lies as she called them) and lying to people for the sake of it but I don’t remember Rachel making any such claims.

No. Rachel said it in the first episode, she said to Claudia "I’ve lied my way into a presidential suite by pretending I was the President of Ireland’s daughter. I’m very good at deceiving people, especially people that don’t know me."

Fiona was chucking away about her white lies too though.

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/01/2026 15:11

I don't think she is finding it as easy as she makes it seem.

Various traitors have said that being a traitor for any length of time is emotionally demanding and stressful. I'm not surprised that Rachel is starting to show some stress.

CarminaBiryani · 16/01/2026 15:23

Friday predictions - they've murdered Faraaz and are going to banish Jade.

murasaki · 16/01/2026 15:29

I think they'll murder Jessie, and hope Jade is banished.

And then not recruit Matthew but murder him instead.

CarminaBiryani · 16/01/2026 15:30

I wonder what would happen if we have a final 4 of Rachel, Stephen + 2 others. If one of the 4 was likely to turn on Rachel or Stephen, would Rachel or Stephen turn on each other for the money? They said they couldn't get to the final without each other, did they say they'd go all the way and split the money though?

I feel like Stephen is thinking about the final already, how far does he trust Rachel?

Would Rachel stick to her word and be happy with half the money, given she's quite motivated to win it?

My gut says she would split it, as its still a lot and would be a good example to her kids.

Sorry if I explained it wrong. Imagine if Jessie was the seer. Only Jessie would know. The others would know there was a seer not that it was Jessie. Jessie would then ask Claudia in secret is (for example) Stephen a traitor. Claudia says yes so Jessie has the information. Then it’s up to Jessie if she reveals. She might want to save it for a later date but risk getting murdered or say it straight out. (Also to note that a seer could also be a traitor).

OK. But if the seer reveals the traitor, everyone else will know they're the seer, no? Or is it like the seer in the last season, when no one (IIRC) knew if the seer really was the seer and was revealing a true traitor?

WriterOfWrongs · 16/01/2026 15:35

Agreed. It's also possible of course she's said in confessionals before that she's found it stressful, but the edit hasn't shown us that.

The edit follows a fairly standard storytelling narrative. You want to show some change and obstacles in the emotional journey of a 'character'.

Depends. If they accuse, are found to be correct and say it's because they're the Seer, people have to decide whether they believe that or not, and to be safe, they have to assume not.

It's honestly not worth it. You can't use the knowledge. It gives you the info the Traitors know so people won't have any way of telling the difference and will just boot you to be safe.

No, it doesn't sound it. The seer didn't work well before (I just remember Charlotte screeching, 'Don't trust this woman!' and Francesca looking hurt), so I don't see why this variant would.

goldtrap · 16/01/2026 15:47

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 16/01/2026 14:12

i think they did the seer all wrong last time. How it works in mafia is you don’t know who the seer is and the chosen one doesn’t know they’ve been selected. So the seer would go see Claudia and ask is Stephen a traitor Claudia says yes and then that player can choose to reveal or not. It works best because Stephen wouldn’t know he’d been asked about so can’t plan a defence but equally no one would know who the seer was. Didn’t work last time so they won’t do it again.

The other way we play in Mafia is to have a detective. The detective knows who the murderers (Traitors) are. No one knows who the detective is. The detective's job is to try and gently sway the faithfuls in the right direction. They can't name a Traitor straight out (like Fiona did!) But they could say 'I've got suspicions about X.'

For a moment I thought Harriet might actually have been given a detective role that no one else knows about because of her absolute (correct) belief that Rachel was a Traitor, but her reasons were nebulous (ie she couldn't just come out and say 'because I'm the detective!).

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 16/01/2026 16:04

Because Charlotte knew that Francesca had asked about her. In this variant no one knows who the seer is or who they asked about. So in previous season Charlotte wouldn’t have time to formulate how to play it and Francesca could have chosen to wait to reveal only at the final flames in the fire round.

So you could reveal yourself as the seer if you want. But you have a choice.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 16/01/2026 13:17

I think this too.

Well unless it’s down to the editing she’s not showing she’s on to any of the traitors when in the diary room.
