I’m watching Jasmine. It looked at one stage like she was going out but she’s pulled it back in the second set - hope she can keep it up.

ChessieFL · 23/01/2026 08:00

Sadly Jasmine is out after second set tiebreaker. She had the physio out in the first set so maybe she’s slightly injured/unwell. Sad for her.

Great win for Jovic though, she played really well.

Raahh · 23/01/2026 08:01

Just lost the tie break, which is a shame. Hopefully the doubles will go better.

Raahh · 23/01/2026 09:08

Andrey Rublev has lost to Cerundolo ( Francisco). Not sure if that counts as an upset or not. In ranki ga terms I suppose it does- but Cerundolo is a dangerous opponent and Rublev always vulnerable to loss.

It sounds like Daniil's match was a classic of the 'Daniil Medvedev 5-set comebacks' genre. And he has to play Learner Tien next, who beat him here last year, also in 5 sets...

Such a shame that ADF had to retire, he seemed in really good form heading into the tournament. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

I really hope Daniil can get through the next match- I feel like the tournament needs him. I like Carlos and Jannik- (and I'm a hypocrite, since I was more than happy to see Rafa in every slam final for a number of years) but it is starting to get dull. There are not many players who can push them- at least not over 5 sets.

The Bublik /Etcheverry match is about to start. I always like to watch Sasha.

Seen the schedule for tomorrow- hardly surprising that, given the weather, Djok has the night match. Hmm It was obvious yesterday was his 'token' day match, since the weather was a lot cooler. His team had probably been scouring the forecasts.

Casper is playing a night match- again! Maybe it gives him more time to catch a plane? I can't imagine there are that many flight from Melbourne to Oslo in a day? Grin

IceandIndigo · 23/01/2026 10:18

I agree Raahh,* *even though Daniil hasn't been in great form he's one of those players I trust to turn up against Carlos and Jannik.

I don't think it's safe to make anyone play in extreme heat, hopefully they can adjust the schedule accordingly. Of course Djok gets the schedule of his choice.

OP posts:
Raahh · 23/01/2026 10:32

There seems to be a big 'intentional gap' in the schedule- not sure if that's when they expect it to be hotter?
They might choose to close the roof.

This will obviously favour a certain player as well...

I remember the year Caroline Wozniaki won (it was a very hot year) - Halep ended up in hospital on a drip. The men played their final under the roof Hmm (and it wasn't even as hot).
Of course- that favoured Roger, and Marin had been practicing outside.

Raahh · 23/01/2026 10:34

The Argentinian fans are in fine voice Grin

ChessieFL · 23/01/2026 10:37

The Cam/Sasha match has just had to pause to clean up bird shit from the court! Makes a change from a rain delay I suppose…

Grin Even the gulls are critics.
IceandIndigo · 23/01/2026 10:47

I wonder which player the seagulls were aiming for?

Bublik vs Etcheverry is a fun match.

OP posts:
Raahh · 23/01/2026 11:02

It is- and it could be a long one. The crowd are going to lose their voices Grin

ChessieFL · 23/01/2026 11:12

Sascha has beaten Cam - again.

Raahh · 23/01/2026 11:28

I noticed that Cam avoided the bagel in the final set.
It was pretty inevitable he was going to lose (however much Laura and her mates were bigging him up).

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2026 12:05

Bublik is loving winding those Argentinians up Grin

Raahh · 23/01/2026 12:47

He's really enjoying himself now.

Raahh · 23/01/2026 12:48

Well done Bublik- fun match.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2026 12:48

Well done Sasha

IceandIndigo · 23/01/2026 12:50

Well done Sasha. It's going to be an interesting contest between him and ADM. His dropshots won't be as successful.

Don’t know if that link works

Raahh · 23/01/2026 12:51

He is going to enjoy the atmosphere playing AdM.

He never makes it easy for the interviewers, does he?

He makes a lot of sense.
It's good to see him doing well- and enjoying it.
