Rachel and Stephen were hanging around by the picture and didn’t want him there - so much so that he offered to leave them alone. That was the odd bit.

They should have left him to the picture and then had Rachel go back later to finish finger printing.

I’m assuming of course that the method of shortlisting will be revealed as they usually do reveal the public murders/listings.

Sometimes I wonder what the traitors might be told by the production team and if there are additional game-play rules that the audience is not privy to.
Does anyone else think they may have been told that they had to both be present for dabbing the dots on the painting? Otherwise it seems bonkers to me that they were both hanging around the hallway, especially after Stephen said he was too nervous to do it and happy to leave it all to Rachel. Then he lurks around anyway, looking all sweaty and suspicious!

It would have made so much more sense to handle it like the first murder in plain sight from Celebrity Traitors : decide who was going to do the task and just let them get on with it alone.

OR the one who said that has a relationship with Amanda...?

I said upthread that I think that this is the case. Matthew and Amanda have a connection and he brought that up to yank her chain. There was another moment later on when one of them said something to the other that seemed protective, so I think there might be something in this

Must admit, just had to look up which of the ubiquitous, 25-35 year old, white young males Matthew was!

TraitorsFan · 06/01/2026 13:58

I thought Stephen was hanging about in the hall while Rachel did the dabbing so that he could alert her if any of the others appeared, perhaps by starting to talk to them.

Or, as @ChiaraMontague suggested, the producers might have told them to be together.
But Alan Carr was the only traitor present when he murdered Paloma, iirc. I can’t remember further back than that.

Choccyp1g · 06/01/2026 14:30

There seem to be lots of rules about the missions that they don't explain to the audience. So many occasions when they all run about together, instead of splitting up, and someone who is clearly best at the task is only allowed to sing once, or run once.

It would take up time in the programme that could be used for other things, and a lot of watchers think the missions are a bit boring anyway. We don't see them all get kitted out with protective clothing either, or being given the health & safety instructions.

Just to clarify: there are 3 episodes now up on iplayer so ok to discuss all 3?

All 3 have been broadcast on BBC1 so everything is out there already.

ChinFluff46 · 06/01/2026 17:21

Thank you for the spoiler free announcement!

I'm so glad Tuesday has gone quickly, this is genuinely getting me through January 🤣😂

Celiathebanshee · 06/01/2026 12:00

We have seen traitor turn on traitor, of course. I can't think that I have ever seen them raise it first? But perhaps I have forgotten.
Amanda isn't a traitor

It's definitely a fine line. One that Harriet would tread perfectly.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/01/2026 17:50

i dont think Steven is going to last long, his face gives it all a way

They've managed in every murder to remember the names of all the players, so it does seem odd they'd need to go back to the tree together to decide.

I thought it would make more sense for them to discuss, and one do it. I reckon Rachel felt she could argue her innocence if there's someone else to throw under the bus.

I remember after they were first selected, Reece put his arm round Rachel and said you're not a traitor are you and she joked a big fat one or something. Maybe his trust will go in Rachel's favour.

WonderfulSmith · 06/01/2026 17:59

i do still think it’s odd how Ross said that he didn’t plan on saying that he knew Netty. She clearly hasn’t seen him before they arrived at the castle but had he spotted her on the train?
I do also think that they had hooked up in the past and he’s been keeping his distance.

TheGreenBow · 06/01/2026 18:14

The most popular guess here and from talking to other people seems to be Fiona. But if it is her, I just don’t understand why the production would have given us that many clues/made it so obvious (the weird sigh noises and smirks and not wanting a shield etc). She certainly has looked very content and pleased throughout which does seem quite unusual if she’s only a faithful. Unless the production team think we need that many hints?!!

QueenOfThorns · 06/01/2026 18:36

Silverbirchleaf · 06/01/2026 12:59

It’s easy! They’re all Matthew, unless they’re wearing a hat, in which case they’re Adam. Or mention a shield every 30 seconds, then they’re Reece. I’m proud to have worked it out Grin

Choux · 06/01/2026 18:50

TheGreenBow · 06/01/2026 10:13

I agree with this. It has to be Roxy or Ross for that reason alone I think. Also Roxy was shown a lot in the first two episodes but not much in the last one. Maybe to throw us off - so I think it’s more likely to be her so there’s still an element of surprise for some people.

Faraaz could be ST?

TheGreenBow · 06/01/2026 19:18

Choux · 06/01/2026 18:50

Faraaz could be ST?

True but I don’t think they’ve shown him enough for it to be a satisfactory reveal! Whereas Fiona has been shown too much in terms of hints so it would imo be a bit annoying if it’s her. My theory is still Roxy because we all know who she is but she’s not dropped any massive hints. Although I need to look up whether she said she wanted to be a traitor or not as if not then it’s back to the drawing board for me 🤣

ChinFluff46 · 06/01/2026 19:24

Wondering what happens after the ST reveal. Is it that they then to decide who to jointly murder?

I only watched Traitors in November on catchup, was there as much speculation about previous series?

we didnt have a secret traitor before

Just as much speculation though, but about different things.

MaggieFS · 06/01/2026 19:42

There’s just no way Rachel and Stephen can get away with that shambolic despatch of Reese and then hanging around the hallway is there?

Perhaps not in the next episode or two, but I’m fully expecting it to be picked up on. Plus Stephen was a bit silly not realising the Ben thing could potentially also frame him too. Not sure how much of a strategist he is.

It definitely puta Reese in the firing line.

AlwaysRightISwear · 06/01/2026 19:46

Yes unless Reece is either thick or murdered likely only the ST will be the only traitor left.

No I think all the rules are the ones the audience are told too and Rachel & Stephen have both lost the plot entirely.

At this rate all the first band of traitors will be banished sooner rather than later.

Choux · 06/01/2026 20:00

No murder the night we last saw as there is a traitor ‘recruitment’. Which is the ST. The lack of murder will throw everyone and get them looking at everyone (even more) suspiciously. What Reece saw of Rachel and Steven doesn’t have meaning in a traitor recruitment scenario so will be overlooked. Then Reece murdered the following night.
