I think this year has suffered from circumstances beyond anyone's control - 2 people dropping out before the first show and then Stefan pulling out.

Figgygal · 07/12/2025 21:43

Honestly biggest shock since Danny Mac not winning
Poor Katya and poor Carlos for having to wear that bloody awful outfit

Karen wasn't great in the group dance at all and made a good few mistakes. Also, are her or Amber deaf?? They both keep thanking in sign language, but Karen especially.

I think it's been a bit of a tradition to thank in sign language ever since Rose Ayling-Ellis was in Strictly.

Hollieandtheivie · 07/12/2025 21:48

I really hope Lewis is on the tour. He's been my favourite all the way through. I don't mind who wins now 😔

BogRollBOGOF · 07/12/2025 21:49

Fully caught up now!
Was out last night so missed a chance to vote and watched this morning.

I did go into the spoiler thread for the first time which braced me.

While I'm glad it's not going to be a two-ringer final +1, I found Lewis the more entertaining dancer than Amber. The circumstances have fallen badly with his dance being awkwardly choreographed vs Amber getting hers spot on both times and well-matched to the brief.
Balvinder had a dance that suited her well and she did a great job of it.

I love Karen and it's easy to forget the scoliosis affecting her posture and mobility. It was more obvious in the first couple of shows, but either through clever choreography or adaptions in her strength through the training I'm noticing it less.

Choux · 07/12/2025 21:50

At least Danny Mac got to the final. Poor Lewis didn’t even make the semi final.

I didn’t like his dance last night and at one point mid dance I couldn’t find him amongst the other male dancers in it. I was watching the wrong guy - I blame the similar coloured costumes! But if that showed anything it was that he could absolutely dance among pros and fit in. Get him to the West End!

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 07/12/2025 21:52

At this stage in the competition, it always gets a bit dicey. They can’t all stay in, and while it’s a dance show, there’s more to it than ‘who’s the best dancer?’. Obviously there’s the public vote, the comedy, the choreography and music choices, costumes even.

It all comes together to narrow it down to a few favourites who have balanced technical learning assessed by the judges, and popularity of the act as voted by the public.

We’re ending up with some great contestants. They all work really hard, have learned to dance from a limited start (bar Amber), and are entertaining.

ScarlettOYara · 07/12/2025 21:53

I think George's fan base is just too strong, and people were obviously voting to save Bal and Karen.

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/12/2025 21:54

I wish George had had a better pro - Lauren would have been a-ma-zing.

He can only dance what he's given and I think she's really poor.

didn’t like Motsi pushing that she wanted the other to agree in order to avoid having to make the decision. I would imagine it’s very likely to come down to the casting vote- and that’s her job!

But all the judges, apart from Craig, say that. And I don't blame them, it's quite a responsibility having the entire outcome for the week dependent on one person's decision alone - and unpleasant getting al the flak if the person voted out is popular.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 07/12/2025 21:58

Lewis may not have done his best dance with that choreography - but can you imagine George, Bal or Karen managing to get through even a quarter of it.

Im absolutely gutted to see him go. Don't think i want to watch a final without him in it.

SwedishEdith · 07/12/2025 20:11

Oh, no. I feel shit for Katya. This was her chance to win.

She's won before, and she wasn't likely to win anyway given that her partner was a ringer.

EsmaCannonball · 07/12/2025 22:03

Holluschickie · 07/12/2025 21:21

Amber: does anyone feel her routines show way too much gusset? like a young Debbie McGee.

I'm still traumatised from when Pamela Stephenson's turquoise gusset came swooping at me in a camera close up 15 series ago.

I am also not a fan of a gussety Argentine Tango, and most of the female celeb ATs on Strictly are very gusset-based.

In general gussets are not something I want to see, or think about.

MaplePumpkin · 07/12/2025 22:05

I loved the drama and excitement of a “shock” results show tonight, but I do think it’s wild that Lewis has gone. I wish Karen had gone, I’m so over her.

I want Amber to win (although I doubt that would happen, she doesn’t seem too popular) purely to see Nikitas reaction.

I still mention Danny Mac every week, every year! Such a travesty.

Lewis and Danny will be my new lament from now on, I’m so gutted.

The showdances we never got to see - AJ and Lewis. Wahhhh.

Choux · 07/12/2025 22:12

It’s not a foregone conclusion that George will win but he seems to have his large online SM following behind him. As does Ginge on I’m a Celeb apparently (I’m not watching).

These long standing TV Shows include SM stars to seem more modern and youthful but their following means votes can become unrepresentative of who is actually watching and which contestants are more deserving. Someone joked about it earlier but it is the same situation as Israel fans voting for them en masse at Eurovision.

If George and Ginge both win I think there may be behind the scenes discussions about how to retain the credibility of the show. Not necessarily because they aren’t worthy winners - although George isn’t the best dancer this year - but because they need to think about what might happen in future years. Why would TV celebs who can dance sign up if it looks like the SM star will probably win by default?

Id like to say you'll get over it but I'm still bitter about Austin Healey being robbed blind kicked out by the judges and that injustice was best part of two decades ago. Or maybe I just hold a great grudge 🤔.

Me too. His jive is one of my go-to YouTube fixes.

Couldn't agree more. Danny Mac is my favourite contestant ever on Strictly. I've been watching all his dances on YouTube - he was so brilliant and he and Oti were dynamite together

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 07/12/2025 22:18

Catt1sh · 07/12/2025 20:56

I just don’t get how someone who has been in the dance off 5 times is through over someone who scored the first 10 of the season, the first 40 of the season and has been so consistently brilliant and entertaining every single week

Because the decision is solely about the dance in that one show. You can't deny that Bal's dance was quite a bit better than Lewis's.

NeedWineNow · 07/12/2025 22:22

I think the worse gusset flasher was Sarah Hadland last year. I thought it was a pre-requisite of her dances at one point.

I'm going against the grain here but I actually like Amber, and thought her dance last night was great. I was incredibly underwhelmed by Lewis, particularly as I felt that the choreography wasn't good. I was still surprised to see him in the dance off though.

Loved Bal's dance. Whilst technically she isn't good I felt it showed her real strength and determination. Actually I think everyone upped their game last night.

Next week will interesting.

Hard agree with all this. Amber is a fabulous dancer, and that was a stunning routine

Katya so thought she’d won this year you could see she was gutted

She was gutted but I doubt whether she really thought she was going to win, given that the pubic notoriously don't vote for ringers.

In fact I wonder whether there's a part of her that's quite relieved at not having to work her socks of for the next two weeks whilst knowing that the chances of winning are so small.
