Timeline. My favourite ever Sci fi. There was such an outcry that they made a feature length episode to wrap it up but I was gutted.

Almost Human with Karl Urban, cancelled after one season.

Do you mean Timeless? I really liked that too.

Merlin - wanted at least a season where Arthur knew the truth

Wheel of Time - ended on it's best season with lots of good stuff still to come

Lockwood and co

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - set up a whole mug arc that was never fulfilled

Also sad Dirk Gently was cancelled. I often hear Stephen Mangan in my head talking about the interconnectedness of things.

What is a mug arc (or is it a typo?)

PsychoHotSauce · 14/11/2025 18:57

Santa Clarita Diet and Devious Maids, and I make no apologies Grin both shows silliness brought me joy.

RunSlowTalkFast · 14/11/2025 18:59

Gilmore Girls!

I KNOW it had a reboot but the ending of that was much more cliffhangery than the original series which actually had quite a nice ending!

ethelredonagoodday · 14/11/2025 18:59

Another vote for Kaos! Thought it was brilliant. So annoyed they’ve not recommissioned it!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 14/11/2025 18:59

Not strictly cancelled.

But l would have loved more Father Ted

MrsKeats · 14/11/2025 18:59

Mindhunter

BridgetRandomfuck · 14/11/2025 18:59

G.L.O.W. - literally the series ended on a massive cliffhanger and then that was it. So disappointing.

Mindhunter. Intelligent, interesting tv. Such a shame.

Penny Dreadful - they got notice it wasn’t being renewed so finished it in a really rushed and unsatisfying way rather than wrapping it up properly.

Rooroobear · 14/11/2025 18:59

Wayward pines. Loved that show

Typo for myth arc. As in, a big over-arching storyline that can run throughout other storylines.
Although 'mug arc' sounds intriguing.
I was actually thinking of the second attempt to film Dirk Gently, with Elijah Wood. But the Stephen Managan version also had potential.

Flashforward for me too
Also, a recent one: Countdown on Amazon Prime. It just…ended, but almost midway through a new series, even though it was technically all labelled as series 1.

mikado1 · 14/11/2025 19:02

Boss with Kelsey Grammer
Why women Lie
Not sure if cancelled but the Christina Applegate series with one other woman actor, can't remember her name.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 14/11/2025 19:03

Kingdom. It was nice, easy to watch Sunday evening TV and they killed it just as a dramatic story line had been revealed.

StruggleFlourish · 14/11/2025 19:03

Quantum Leap (the first one and the second one)
& Alien Nation.

Home Fires

Yes this, series 2 ended with so many storylines unfinished.

Theresabatinmykitchen · 14/11/2025 19:12

The Dallas reboot it was utterly brilliant, gutted when it was cancelled

Doctors on the BBC, doubly gutted , it was like saying goodbye to old friends forever 😢 and to add insult to injury it’s been replaced with yet another cheap game show. Doctors was a series where new upcoming writers and actors could cut their teeth, I thought it was shameful the BBC took away that opportunity for them.

PoohneedsaPimms · 14/11/2025 19:13

Maigret with Rowan Atkinson (ITV), The Halcyon (ITV), Home Fires (ITV), felt they all had another series in them?

Theresabatinmykitchen · 14/11/2025 19:14

SeaAndStars · 14/11/2025 19:09

The Coroner (The one with Claire Goose in)
Home Fires
The Change

Yes, The Coroner was brilliant, great storyline and set in beautiful Devon, another gutting cancellation.

Oh Quantum leap - this was amazing...I'd forgotten

RedRiverShore5 · 14/11/2025 19:21

The Event, ended after one season on a cliffhanger
American Rust, ended after two seasons on a cliffhanger
