Sapphire and Steel, summer of 1979. The most exciting series ever. ITV went on strike in the middle of it, then I left the country and never got to see the rest. Still gutted.

I loved sapphire and steel. And I remember the ending. They’re still stuck in an elevator in space. But I can’t remember any storylines.

Not cancelled as such as I believe the plan was only ever 2 series, but Fleabag. Best to show ever and they really needed a 3rd series where the priest changes his mind and ends up happily ever after with Fleabag.

ABSOLUTELY NOT

Another one was the C4 one set in India with Julie Walters in the 30s I think, it was very good

also the one about King Luis 14th

Do you mean Versailles?

Home fires

Bbq1 · 22/11/2025 23:30

Big Bang wasn't really cancelled, it ended. I mourn it however.
Home Fires was actually cancelled and ended with a massive cliffhanger.

Not RTFT so this may be discussed already but there's a difference between a show that comes to an end - for example, ER, Big Bang Theory both mentioned on the first page, both had a planned ending - and a show cancelled with storylines left unfinished. I might miss shows that ended, but cancelled shows are way more disappointing.

Mine would be recently Etoile and Kaos (more fool me for watching Kaos knowing it had been cancelled), and back in the 00s, Flashforward. Absolutely gutted by that one!

Came here to say the same. Lots of the shows being mentioned just came to an end rather than being cancelled. Motherland wasn’t cancelled; they just decided not to write anymore. Peep Show had about 9 series and had deffo run its course.

Utopia, on the other hand, I still mourn the loss. The first series was the best thing I have ever seen on TV.

Studio 60 on the Sunset strip - such a great series

BlackRoseBlue · 23/11/2025 07:24

Agree with those saying Santa Clarita, Studio 60, My Lady Jane and lovely to see Lovesick get a mention as well.

DH and have a knack for honing in on shows that seem to get just one season - often Channel 4 /BBC 2 ones. Ones we’ve loved over the years include Sirens (the C4 one from about 10 years ago), Quacks, Year of the Rabbit and Campus.

Do you mean the BBC drama with Max Beasley?

PoliteRaven · 25/11/2025 17:50

Westworld... Season 4 was clearly half of the story, to be continued in season 5 but it was cancelled.

Britannia - story left really unfinished and I wanted to see the General get his comeuppance for selling his soul to the dark side.

UnderTheStarryNight · 25/11/2025 19:16

Footballers Wives. So many unanswered questions at the end. I just loved the sheer ridiculousness of it 😂

Spanglemum02 · 25/11/2025 19:17

Lockwood & Co
Firefly
Thr Irregulars

Netflix awful for cancelling things. I don't think bbc and itv do this as much.
I agree there's a difference between things we miss and things that ended with cliffhanger.

Versailles? Gorgeous, but cut short!
