I'm still not over House of Eliot never having another series to resolve loose ends. And more recently The Babysitters Club (version with Alicia Silverstone on Netflix) was epic but cancelled after 2 seasons. So disappointing. Also agree with a PP about Detectorists, that was the loveliest show.

If you can get yourself to the very wonderful Textile Museum in Bermondsey you can have a little moment of nostalgia as they are holding an retrospective exhibition from the company who were responsible for the H of E costumes and some of the H of E are included. Actually the company did the costumes for almost every TV and film costume drama since the seventies so it is a real wallow of “ they don’t make them like that any more”. Well worth a visit.

The writer, Simon Block, wrote three books which carried on the series to a conclusion.
They're really good!

Oh thank you-I’ll look them up!

Friday Night Dinner. I know why there can never be another series, but what joy it would have been.

Ditto Mum, though I hope they are living their best life………

Martin stop eating out the bin lovely bit of squirrel 🐿️

My so called life

My So Called Life - I was so obsessed with this as a teenager. It still smarts that dross like Dawson's Creek got endless seasons and this was cancelled.

There was a BBC Drama called Trust about a City Law firm that I loved, that never got a second series.

Another BBC Drama called (I think) Political Animals. Starred Matt Smith and Andrea Rise borough before they were famous. Loved it. Never got a second series.

Maybe they could combine Mum and Friday Night Dinner, Jackie a widow, the boys moved on with their females, Aunty Vi trying to match her up with unsuitable men, Jim still hopefully hovering……..

Apacketofbiscuitsaday · 15/11/2025 14:02

Atlantis! Loved that at the time.

Also The Living and The Dead with Colin Morgan.

Shardlake

Ooh good one, I agree. Although having introduced Jack Barak too early (he wasn’t in the book Dissolution) and having him elope to France, it would be a bit difficult to reintroduce him to Shardlake. I’m sure scriptwriters have dealt with worse anomalies though.

Northern Exposure and is also on Prime at the moment so re-watching

Vicar of Dibley

Babylon 5 - my favourite alien G'kar

Babylon had its 5 seasons, just not quite as one would like. I think the writer changed or producer.

SergeantWrinkles · 15/11/2025 15:23

Kaos! I loved it

Lostuser · 15/11/2025 15:45

Just watched Finding Alice on Netflix disappointed that there wasn’t a second season

Keeping Faith

BellaBlister · 15/11/2025 15:50

Home fires
GLOW
Kaos - perhaps we should start a petition to Netflix

Lostuser · 15/11/2025 15:56

a PP mentioned a season 3 of Kin is in production! Sadly not case I was all excited for a moment!

ThatIcyLemonSnail · 15/11/2025 18:37

White Gold. They left it open for a fantastic 3rd season

I enjoyed it till the Gangster character appeared it then got a bit shit.

RyanFudgingMurphy · 15/11/2025 18:56

I adored My Lady Jane. Edward Bluemel was brilliant in it, as was Emily Bader. I didn’t know she was American until I googled her! It was a bit silly but funny and engaging. I had the rage for days when Amazon announced it wasn’t making Series 2.!

kaos is another one, unfinished. I can’t get past it!

Men in Trees

cobrakaieaglefang · 15/11/2025 19:02

As my user name suggests, Cobra Kai, I have so many unanswered questions. For example..
Who was Johnny's dad?
What was Tori's mothers connection with martial arts and who was her dad?
Why did parents of students not question why their kids were coming home absolutely battered?
How did Johnny become so ignorant of computers etc, he was wealthy as a teenager and would have had one as a 'cool' kid.
Do Terry and john survive the boat?

JaniceBattersby · 15/11/2025 19:08

Agree about Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Brilliant telly.

I really miss Life Begins.

PedantsOfDestiny · 15/11/2025 19:11

Re all those mentioning Mindhunter (which I agree - it was totally criminal to stop) -
https://www.cbr.com/mindhunter-star-possible-return-6-years-later/

I mean, it's still pretty unlikely. But..... if we all say our prayers?

RightOnTheEdge · 15/11/2025 19:18

Merlin! The ending was a massive disappointment!

aneliese · 15/11/2025 19:45

The OA and Kaos - so frustrating not to have the stories completed

I've read all three and I think they came to a reasonable conclusion.
