Guilty pleasure Christmas movies

Is it too early for a Christmas film thread?

A sick dc means I've been up since 5.30am so I just gave up and got up and decided to break the Christmas movie seal!

It was actually pretty good and I'd recommend, a bit of a different twist which was good. Journey back to Christmas with Candace CB on My5.

Yes! I've watched it the last couple of years. The Kat Graham one?

Yes! I love it. I’ve got MIL watching it too. It’s just so sweet and easy to watch.

Hepzibar · 11/11/2025 22:13

In no particular order:
White Christmas
The Family Man
The Holiday
Love Actually
Its a Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol (Alistar Sim my favourite but any version is fine with me)
Last Christmas

there are others - I’m a sucker 😊

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 11/11/2025 22:15

The holidate! Truly dreadful but a modern classic imo

I love Holidate and strongly reject the idea that’s its dreadful!! (I did say I had a low bar).

StrikeForever · 11/11/2025 23:15

Oh and ‘Trains, Planes and Automobiles’ fabulous 👌

osloslow · 11/11/2025 23:30

Midnight at Magnolia

ticktockitsNCtime · 11/11/2025 23:39

Violent Night

BashfulClam · 11/11/2025 23:40

Christmas with the coopers. John Goodman and Diane Keating. The dog narrates the story.

SendTheNextOneIn · 12/11/2025 12:36

My Channel 5 app is playing up and won’t play any Christmas movie. No amount of restarting the sky box or refreshing the app is making it work. Starting to get quite lightheartedly distressed over the situation.

I love a Christmas film.
It helps that I have a very low bar.

Some new ones coming out on Netflix.

Thank you for this link. I am very happy to see that Home for Christmas is having a third season.

Dragonsfrontooth · 12/11/2025 12:45

Home for Christmas was a fab serie and it's great it us coming back. That's made me happy.

I too have a low bar overall, but do check out the imdb rating as I try and aim for 6 and above!

Click and Collect? Not cheesy, but I love it.

And for just after Christmas there's This Time Next Year.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/11/2025 12:46

Guilty Pleasure?

Santa Claus : The Movie with Dudley Moore

Some of these aren’t guilty, just classic!

Ooh yea I love Click and Collect it makes me laugh every time. I also like Last Christmas - the Emilia Clarke one with the George Micheal soundtrack although I think it was panned.

Cosywintervibes · 12/11/2025 15:00

Father Christmas is back with kelsey Grammer. Found this by accident last year and really enjoyed it.

Silent Night with Kiera Knightley a slightly dark spin on Christmas but as a prepper it's up my street.

And all the ones mentioned above by pp. Love a Christmas movie. Great thread @Dragonsfrontooth

Awrite · 12/11/2025 17:16

Anyone trying A Merry Little Ex-Mas?

Alicia Silverstone and Melissa Joan Hart. I suspect it will get panned by the critics but I'm loving it. On Netflix.

Haven't seen it but it sounds like my kind thing so will give it a watch

That sounds like my sort of film. Sunday evening viewing.

There are several we enjoy (suckers for that type of movie).
If you can find them...
A Christmas Visitor
Angel in the Family
Christmas Carol (with Patrick Stewart)

MJOverInvestor · 12/11/2025 18:27

If you want a so-bad-its-good contender, Christmas Time might be a contender. Clearly made for aobut 5p a couple of years ago. What's meant to be Finland is clearly the Home Counties, using a dry ski slope (explained away as climate change) with no budget for anything longer than 30 seconds of fake snow and specially composed Christmas songs (rather than pay for using real ones). Terrible dialogue manfully spouted by the actors. Watched it on a plane a couple of days ago www.google.com/search?q=christmas+time+trailer&rlz=1C5OZZY_enGB1132GB1133&oq=christmas+time+trailer&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCAgCEAAYFhgeMggIAxAAGBYYHjIICAQQABgWGB4yCAgFEAAYFhgeMggIBhAAGBYYHjINCAcQABiGAxiABBiKBTIKCAgQABiiBBiJBTIKCAkQABiiBBiJBdIBCDM1MTZqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:46f6a440,vid:sZrlMrdrdlU,st:0

I love alistair sims christmas carol and my other favorite is the bishops wife.

Onlyontuesday · 12/11/2025 18:33

Klaus is brilliant. Light with just the right amount of pathos.

A Castle for Christmas on Netflix. I watch it every year, it’s my favourite! But I also love all the Hallmark ones on C5, they make my Christmas.

This one cracks me up with the bad accents, ever since we watched it me and my (Scottish) husband call each other dobbers all the time.

Dragonsfrontooth · 12/11/2025 22:29

I'm Scottish too and the fake or wrong accents (strong west coast when its meant to be in the Highlands where accents are lighter, often more a lilt) are toe curling to hear.

I'm abou 40 mins in. The cast is good and its set in small town in Vermont but I can pretty much see where it's going.
