Why do they have to make it so complicated?

Carlos fist pumping doesn’t bother me one bit Grin

Me neither!

I am partial to a good fist pump. And let’s be real it’s pretty tame compared to what Rafa used to do. I actually find it a bit anticlimactic when players don’t celebrate at all, like Rybakina.

Not after every point though, lore wasn't really providing that atiff a competition by the end.

The Michael McIntyre impression by Romesh was brilliant Grin

StartupRepair · 13/11/2025 22:24

So happy for ADM. Loved hearing him being interviewed in Spanish. Agree the whole formula calculation is weird and they are all kind of limping to the finish line.

Raahh · 14/11/2025 08:05

At least the doubles today is a dead rubber for Joe and Neal, who are already through to the semi final. That will be a relief. (though I wish they weren't playing Julian and Lloyd).
Same for Jannik, playing Ben. A far less complicated day, 'scenario' wise!.

Though the complications of the Round Robin format have been a welcome distraction from rl this week, since Dh has been in hospital with a suspected DVT after his leg swelled like a tree trunk at the weekend, and antibiotics from the GP didn' t help. Fortunately, the hospital is minutes away, so going backwards and forwards there is not as bad as it could be.

They've sent him home last night with loads of painkillers and more antibiotics- and another scan next week. They now think it's an infection.

And I'm trying to wrangle eyedrops into the dog, who has an infection. Well, if they were drops and not a cream that smears all over his bushy eyebrows, it would help.

It's only 8am- I feel like I've done a day already Grin .

Sending hugs Raahh Flowers
Hope Mr Raahh is on the mend.

IceandIndigo · 14/11/2025 09:18

Sorry to hear that Raahh, hopefully the antibiotics do their thing.

IceandIndigo · 14/11/2025 09:21

Apparently Lore has withdrawn from the Italian Davis Cup team and will be replaced by Lorenzo Sonego. Which is completely understandable given how much he's been playing, and apparently his baby is also due very soon.

Raahh · 14/11/2025 09:33

Thank you both - he feels a bit better this morning (at least the morphine helped him sleep - still can't get his socks on by himself Grin).

I am not surprised about Lore. His baby must be due within weeks/ days? - I'm sure when they first made the announcement he said November.

He really must have been running on fumes and adrenaline up to this point.

Oh dear - hope your DH is OK and on the road to recovery Raahh

I saw a bit of the match last night - poor Lore it was just a step too far for him - glad that he’ll hopefully have a bit of a rest now - before Baby No 2 arrives Grin

At least the Italians have got a fairly wide selection of players to choose from

The scheduling is crazy - who would want to play Davis Cup after such a long season? (I’m also blaming Djok - for more or less everything Grin)

Raahh · 14/11/2025 12:13

Fizzy He's not feeling too great, and it will probably take a while to recover properly, but at least he was seen pretty quickly.

I'm glad Lore got to take part, but yes, I am blaming Djok for everything too. Grin. He's been mouthing off to Piers Morgan about Jannik's doping ban, I see. Dick.

Yes, I saw that- he didn't give and context- about whether it was about Djok, or the criticism of Jannik not playing Davis Cup (there's been a lot) - but I like to think it's about Djok. Grin.

Congratulations Carlos

Raahh · 14/11/2025 13:33

It's nice that Carlos is back at number 1.

I think it wll be a Jannik/Carlos final. That's not much of a prediction Grin

There really does need to be a '3rd' man to mix things up- but at the moment , I don't know who that is going to be. Jannik and Carlos have leap frogged the likes of Sascha and Daniil- and they seem to be going backwards rather than forwards. And Stef is on a very downwards slide.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 14/11/2025 13:40

Yes I’m not sure who the ‘third man’ could be Raahh - no one else seems to be getting close to Jannik and Carlos

Well said Darren Cahill - ugh Djok and Piers Morgan - what a combination Hmm

Raahh · 14/11/2025 13:45

The final will be interesting if it is Jannik and Carlos though- because the hth has been heavily in Carlos's favour over the last couple of years- but Jannik's indoor record is currently very good.

So, I hope it is the two of them, because it should be a fitting finale to the year.

'Disrupter' is the word of the afternoon with Tim and Jonathan. Hmm

Sorry to hear about your DH, Raahh. Hope he is on the mend asap.

ChessieFL · 14/11/2025 14:34

Nobody is even close to Carlos and Jannik. Look at their points - Jannik is on 10000, Carlos even higher. The next highest is Sascha on just under 5000 points, less than half of the points Jannik has. I agree it’s hard to see anyone at the moment who can properly challenge them.

Thanks Magi- DD1 has just come home from uni for work, and was horrified by the size of his shin! It's like the hulk, only red. Grin

Other Lorenzo deserves his chance to play in the Davis cup, he did really well at the end. Step too far for lovely Lore, hope all goes all well with the birth

Raahh · 14/11/2025 16:31

I have agreed to go to the cinema with Dd1 to see The Running Man .

So, I will miss the Sascha / Felix match. I don't really mind who wins it.
