I definitely want to see more of Nick being featured - all i knew of him before was ted lasso, and i ended up quite liking his character by the end. He's clearly a very intelligent man. He was about to outperform Stephen Fry on Shakespeare before clare pulled the lever in the trojan horse game. I think. I can't be arsed to go back and check.

As Chair of the MN Chapter of the Nick Fan Club, we welcome you to our team!

It’s also enlightening to realise how many Jonathan Ross fans there are, I really didn’t think of him as being in anyway still relevant.

If he wasn't in anyway relevant why would he have been invited onto the show? And anyway for me at least, it's less about being a particular fan of JR and more about disliking lies and vitriol - which the other thread is full of and Ruth also displayed. You can not like someone without tearing them apart morally, or insisting that they said / did something dishonest that they didn't.

SaratogaFilly · 19/10/2025 16:47

I love Nick too!

RubieChewsDay · 19/10/2025 17:42

Cat’s my favourite - I hope she lasts as a traitor. She’s playing a great game so far but you never know what twists and turns are coming up.

I meant relevant enough for people to be getting their knickers in such a twist over this. I’m stunned that people are defending him so robustly, and feel the need to assassinate the character of another player, when the chances are he was lying and is a traitor 🤷‍♀️

Anyway I agree about drawing a line under this. Roll on Wednesday.

Well, we have no idea what the bookers were originally going for. We have no idea how many approaches they made to people who said no.

Its not an ‘invitation’. They’re cast, just like actors, or non-celebrity casts for Traitors or GBBO. The boomers will sit down and come up with a list of names and start at the top, and work their way down.

Certainly, looking at the cast they actually ended up with, it looks like a solid base of national treasures/TV favourites/comedians, with a few token younger people like Niko, Cat and Ruth — the median age is certainly much older than either of the non-celebrity UK Traitors seasons.

But we won’t ever know what the bookers’ ideal cast would have been, or how long it took to get this cast, or who dropped out because someone they’d had a feud or affair with was going to be in it. .

GreyChicken · 19/10/2025 18:17

Richard Osman alluded to it being a case of agents putting forward their client's interest in taking part - I'd assume some of the cast put themselves forward, and some were approached.

WatchingTheDetective · 19/10/2025 18:18

You don't put yourself forward for a show!

RubieChewsDay · 19/10/2025 18:29

Agents will definitely be talking to producers and expressing their clients interest in this and other shows. They don’t just sit there waiting for the phone to ring.

They probably already have a list of people who weren’t available during filming this year that would be keen if they do another series.

dapsnotplimsolls · 19/10/2025 18:50

I really like Cat but I think she'll go the same way as Minah from the last series - original Traitor but didn't make it to the end.

Aah, but wasn't her downfall caused by trusting Charlotte, who schemed to get her out?

Recruiting a new traitor is risky!

I really liked Minah as well, Charlotte played a blinder but I was gutted for her.

Charlotte was too eager to be the last traitor standing, but her schemes backfired on her. Especially when she recruited Freddie just to throw him under the bus.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/10/2025 20:12

I loved Minah. She was brilliant and robbed.

My favourite ever traitor!

My favourite faithful was Alexander.

I agree with both @GreyChicken

LittleYellowQueen · 19/10/2025 21:37

I had heard a rumour that Daisy May Cooper and her brother (from This Country) had been lined up to appear but they had to drop out. I wish they had been in it, they'd have been hilarious.

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 21:39

As well as Daisy May and her brother I’d have loved to have seen the two guys from ‘ inside number 9’
Right up their street !

SaratogaFilly · 19/10/2025 21:41

I’m not a fan of Daisy May, so I’m very glad she’s not in it!

CeliaFarts · 19/10/2025 21:44

I don’t know Daisy May Cooper or her brother, but I do wonder if Ruth was a late replacement for somebody. She seemed to have been a bit of an odd choice (unless she has a huge social media following I don’t know about), considering the profile of the other celebrities.

She has a huge following, and as a writer and actor has access to a significant network in the industry.

I really enjoy some of her work (and she was brilliant in Last One Laughing) but I don't think she'd have been a good fit for Traitors.

And you think Ruth saying, in the car, before they ever got to the castle ‘Well, Jonathan, you’re clearly an utterly shitty human being, traitor or faithful, from what I understand about you being happy to humiliate a you g woman who has had sex with your friend on the radio, by leaving tasteless message on her granddad’s answering machine. so keep the fuck away from me’ was ever going to make the edit?

On a BBC programme? When Sachsgate caused a record number of listener complaints, an Ofcom investigation, two major BBC presenters being suspended, several BBC chiefs resigning, a formal BBC apology to licence payers and a discussion in the H of C about whether the BBC was a socially responsible broadcaster?

Not anything the Beeb is going to want reference to in a light entertainment hit featuring national treasures.

Hot tip: People are viewing this show in syndication all over the world. Am not up on UK celebrity gossip or scandals from 2008 or any other time (unless they involved monstrous, internationally reported upon court cases).

EleanorReally · 20/10/2025 07:54

on celebrity uncloaked Tom and Clare have taken it SO seriously ha ha
