Murder mysteries

I’ve posted before about this but we’ve run out again. My autistic DD is 10 and loves a murder mystery. She likes a slow paced, English murder mystery series. She has just watched all of the Shakespeare and hathaways, death in paradise, beyond paradise, return to paradise, most of the BBC Sherlocks, patience, Ludwig. She has loved all of these and watches them on repeat! She loves sitting with me and DH to watch programmes like this but obviously the genre means lots of the series she’d like to watch she’s too young for. She doesn’t mind a bit of gore but too young to watch mature content in terms of sex etc so we often need to pre watch a series before she does.

can anyone recommend another series which is similar to these that we can watch together?

OP posts:

Is Midsomer Murders too old fashioned? There a lot of those!

WallaceinAnderland · 12/10/2025 18:15

Oh, and Jonathan Creek might be good

WallaceinAnderland · 12/10/2025 18:16

Knives Out but check the rating

Only Murders in the building will keep you guessing

There's the old BBC miss Marple on the iPlayer and Poirot on itv streaming.

Father Brown is perfect.

purpleme12 · 12/10/2025 18:20

Death Valley?

HettySunshine · 12/10/2025 18:20

Death Valley.

sounds right up her street, set in rural Wales, one fairly bloodless murder per episode and a nice ongoing story line through the series.

Thingamebobwotsit · 12/10/2025 18:21

And Sister Boniface

Also - Madame Blanc - very silly but easy watching.

UniversityofWarwick · 12/10/2025 18:21

Madame Blanche Mysteries

Following because my DS is the same. We tried Jonathan Creek, but it is absolute filth! I did not realise how rude it was until I was sitting next to my 9 year old!

The Good Ship Murder

Most of the episodes are a 12 to be fair

My 10 year old is the same. Sister Boniface and Father Brown have been big hits.

Midsommer murders might be a bit too old, it has some fairly horrible kills and there is a fair bit of sex in Jonathan Creek so avoid.

Death Valley is great and similar to Ludwig

orangewasp · 12/10/2025 18:31

Murder at Evensong has just started on ch5. Hetty Wainthrop Investigates is an oldy but a goody. Also Miss Marple.

Ellmau · 12/10/2025 18:32

Definitely Father Brown and Sister Boniface.

Older versions of Agatha Christie.
