A first-look trailer has been revealed for Murder Before Evensong (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/murder-before-evensong-matthew-lewis-first-look-newsupdate/), the new six-part murder mystery series based on the novel of the same name by Reverend Richard Coles.

Matthew Lewis's character Canon Daniel Clement.

Daniel is the Rector of English village Champton, who finds himself entangled in a murder case when a dead body turns up in the church.

Other cast members for the series are also seen in the trailer, including Amanda Redman as Daniel's mother Audrey, Amit Shah as DS Neil Vanloo, Adam James as Bernard De Floures and Tamzin Outhwaite as Stella Harper.

Other stars featuring in the show's cast include Meghan Treadway, Alexander Delamain, Marion Bailey, Amanda Hadingue, Francis Magee and Nina Toussaint-White.

As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together... and catch a killer."

Canon Daniel Clement is Rector of Champton, where he lives alongside his widowed mother – opinionated, fearless, ever-so-slightly annoying Audrey – and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda.

When Daniel announces a plan to install a lavatory in the church, the parish is suddenly (and unexpectedly) divided: as lines are drawn, long-buried secrets come dangerously close to destroying the apparent calm of the village.

@Davros books 1 and 2 were a struggle but the third was beyond me. However as the writer is well known they'll probably all be made into TV.

I didn't like The Hack either. Lasted 2 episodes but found it muddled and couldn't stand the bits with David Tennant talking to the camera.

Did anyone else think Harry and his wife were a bit cold towards Kath when she told them the full story?
I found it quite an odd scene.

Yes, that certainly wasn’t the best written scene. Could have been more moving.

I thought it was going to be very moving, and it wasn't. She was opening up about an important time in her past, Harry was meeting his birth mother for the first time. Not well done.

Edgy is a bit obvious? His son, though - having an affair with the landowner's son. Very risky and controversial back then.

The forger - he doesn’t seem the killing type

Thd last scenes in the church were so darkly filmed along with my poor eyesight, I'd no idea what was happening.

I've no idea why Daniel didn't put the lights on in the church, or just wait for daylight.

Lights would have been far too sensible

So I have re read(I have listened to audiobooks)the book, I prefer the tv series

I really enjoyed it, and watched ahead 🤐.
I've only read one of the books (not Murder after Evensong) but found that hard going, so the TV series appeals!

I enjoyed episode 5, I thought it had a better pace and the storylines began to fall into place. I thought Daniel seemed like a stronger character, as well.
