Well I start with episode 1 and really wanted to if not like it hugely be engaged enough to stick with it.
The real life story is really important, and I think using drame to tell of true life events can really work. And help people understand.
But this is just a mess.
It is making what is already a complicated story more difficult to follow because of (not just the bad wigs!) but the talking to camera to add information. It breaks the spell (well it should have) of pulling you into the story. There are so many ways they could have said this is a made up name. Even just announcing as an opening message.
And sadly (IMO) David Tenant being all arch about look how clever I am, is as irratating as when Kenneth Branagh does one of his sub shakespearean diatribe all the while radiating smug satisfaction at his acting skills. (Yes I know KB isn't in this but its the showy off style)
I really dont think whoever played the Guardian editor role needs to go into some sort make up over kill.
If each episosed is as laboured as this I dont think I will bother.
Someone recommended the documentary Scandalous so might give that a go.
But am a bit sad, as I like crime and intrigue and politics dramas.
Has any finished it?
Is it worth slogging on?
