Starting this a bit early as Spoilers for the couplings could come out at any time.

Thread will normally be the location for the weekly spoiler but will be spoilers for who is paired with who before the 20th if we can get them.

I am..But at this point Balvinder could dance like Katya and be bottom 2 against male dad dancer of the week every time. Partly because Julian has no fans. Partly other reasons.
Wish she had got Kai or Aljaz.

Yes I agree, Julian has no voting base and Bal isn’t motivating a voting base either. It’s going to get a bit embarrassing for the show.

Yes I think Balvinder has a problem in that Julian is new and doesn't seem to have any personality like the other male pros. It is very unfortunate as her dance was better than a lot of others.

La Voix is proving he has a huge fan base plus the popularity of Alzaj. It's a dangerous combination.

Yes, La Voix must be pulling huge numbers to have saved himself from the DO

Balvinder doesn't have a sob story or is too dignified to drag one out. She should probably make one up.

This will be controversial but POC women don't usually do well on Strictly. Regularly have to be rescued from the bottom two.

The judges will choose Balvinder over Stefan and possibly La Voix but not over Ellie.So she will come a cropper. I also think Julian doesn"t dance very well. Probably trying to find the balance between outshining his partner and dull dancing. I remember Jojo had trouble with that his first season.

I hope people aren't voting community wise! I am Indian but I didn't vote for Nikita Kanda ( remember her?) because she was rubbish. I think Balvinder deserves to stay over most of the others. Her dances look distinct from each other rather than just bopping about.

Disappointed that La Voix wasn't bottom two. I don't think he's improving much and last night went pear shaped.

Gutted for Balvinder again, I voted for her. Apparently two judges wanted to save Chris over her. Wtf.

I don't think it's Balvinder's unpopularity, more that people would vote to save others before her who they think were under marked eg Harry and Karen Lioness. I'd rather have those 2 than Bal, it's not personal, it's just that I think they were under marked.

LaVoix was terrible last night, but I loved the Feed the Birds dance last week. I think he's quite a popular character and it's a good pairing with Alijaz.

La Voix was 10 points behind everyone on the leaderboard which is massive so will be interesting to see the voting stats.

Depressing that people are voting for la voix regardless of the dancing - it was absolutely awful! Who came up with such a silly theme? I voted for Balvinder all five times because I thought this might happen. It's so typical that women of colour go out too early because people don't vote.

It doesn't matter how many points he was behind though. The top person on the leaderboard gets 10 points, the next 9 points, down to 1 point for who is at the bottom. Then the same with the voter view - the most popular gets 10, down to the least who gets 1. Then the bottom two on adding those two points together dance off. I think if it's a tie, the viewer vote absolute numbers swing it.

So to be at the bottom on the leaderboard and still out of the dance off means La Voix is pulling in the votes. I'm not a fan but I can see why that might be the case - he is with Aljaz who is very popular and one of the longest-standing male pros, he is quite cheeky to the judges, he is memorable and stands out in what is still quite a crowd.

Balvinder must have got fewer votes than Karen and Carlos, Harry and Karen and Stefan and Dianne, and La Voix more votes than her, and those three too.

I do agree that the personality of the pro helps - people like Aljaz, Vito is super popular too and everyone's got a soft spot for Johannes and feel sorry for Karen plugging away for so many years and never winning. That's going to keep some people like Ellie in for longer.

La Voix's performance last night was one of the worst things I've seen on Strictly over the years. And then the tiresome motormouth wisecracking afterwards ... I'm going to turn into one of those people who shouts that it's all a fix. He already knew he was safe.

Agree last night was awful but he was very good with the Mary Poppins themed dance last week.

Yes, I thought last week's dance showed him developing some partnering skills that might be remarkably challenging for a female impersonator. And then this week, ugh.

La Voix must have got more viewer votes than Karen, Harry, Stefan, Bal and Chris. Guessing probably 8th on the viewing voting.

I really enjoyed his Feed the Birds dance, which I thought was genuinely enjoyable, and moving. I suspect he's built up a bit of a fan base.
I've no idea what the boxing dance was about, it was such a terrible idea and didn't work.

So without wishing to generalise, older Strictly 'traditionalists', who would more likely vote on the standard of dancing, are now less able to contribute an opinion by picking up the phone.

Others who may vote exclusively on personality (or profile), are much more likely to be able to vote online.

The removal of phone voting for all bbc shows (Eurovision / sports personality) is because BT have removed the service so the bbc had no choice. It was covered on an episode of the rest is entertainment podcast. The numbers voting by phone were small anyway according to the podcast. I wonder if the move from 3 to 5 voters has had an impact but ultimately as said before neither Julian or Bal have a fan base and I follow Julian on insta and he seems quite bland (I don’t watch Eastenders).
