I used to love Acorn Antiques

It was really good. Made a change from all the big serves, there were some long rallies all over the court and a very noisy Argentine contingent.

Cam specialises in 5 set battles so if you enjoyed that one there’s plenty of scope for more thrills in future Fizzy.

The film was OK - I haven’t read any of the books so just went along with it - DH has read the books and didn’t really enjoy the film. There was quite a bit of hammy acting - not quite sure where Pierce Brosnan’s accent was supposed to be from

Fizzy I have read 3 of the 4 books - they are very formulaic, and ripped off from pretty much every crime writer ever- but easy reading. Nothing special.
I can't picture any of the chosen cast as the characters as I read them - but that's the way it is with books .

I love a bit of Ostapenko drama, so I'm sorry I missed that, but it sounded like another drama over not much. I think the apologies over net cords (which are a courtesy, not a rule) are happening less and less- and it does appear to be upsetting one or two players . Like Sabalenka.

Just caught some of Carlos's oncourt interview (being repeated on Sky)- didn't catch who the interviewer was, but she was hopeless. I know Carlos has been around a while now - but English is not his firs languages, and asking waffly word salad questions that have to be repeated 3 times before he gets what on earth you are getting at - is just embarrassing.

Hmm I think Ostapenko not being happy about net etiquette is a bit rich coming from her! I think that calling Townsend uneducated and classless isn’t a good look

I know- I like Jelena, she can be a lot of fun - but she does herself no favours sometimes.
She has probably made things a bit awkward for her doubles match with Barbora later too- the American crowd may be a bit unforgiving.

On Arthur Ashe they even interview the players in the tunnel when they’re waiting to take the court! It feels both pointless and intrusive. I felt especially sorry for poor Mattia Bellucci who was understandably nervous at the prospect of playing a night session on Arthur Ashe against Carlos, and had to make inane conversation on the way to the slaughter.

I hate the interviews- I especially hate them at the US Open , when it's always an annoyingly upbeat peppy type doing it. I have low tolerance levels for 'peppy'.

When I run the ATP (I've move up from just being a tournament director, that's small fry) , I'm banning all such nonsense.

And journos at the press conferences can only ask sensible, tennis related questions.

Unless it's Kyrgios. Feel free to bring up anything they like.
