Ice I usually love IKEA. But today was like ' first Sunday of f the holidays- it's raining- where shall we go' and it was HEAVING.

we may still need to do an 'after she's moved ' trip. But that will be mid week in September, hopefully quieter!

IKEA is an experience.

My dc have always considered it 'a day out' .
Sadly, since COVID, you can no longer collect little pencils and paper tape measures. Which was all part of said 'experience' .

I don't eat the meat balls myself, but that is an essential part of the trip for everyone else. As well as dh always trying to get DD2 to have the lingonberry jam with them(which she doesn't like) Oh, how we laugh .

I love it really. It's like visiting a theme park, for people who like homewares, flatpack furniture and candles. .

I can’t believe it’s a year since the Olympics - that weird opening ceremony and Rafa in the rain in his see through trousers I really got into watching the doubles at the Olympics and remember Dan’s wobbly bottom lip when he and Andy Murray lost

IKEA can be a bit of an ordeal especially on a rainy weekend - I went with DS1 a few years ago and he had a bit of a meltdown half way round and then had another one when he realised it was one way and there was no escape! (He was in his 20s at that point and not a toddler)

I will try to watch some tennis this week - if only to see Norbert (I don’t think I know what he looks like)

We know the 'short cuts' in our IKEA .
I only allow them if we are in a rush though. Otherwise, we must do the 'whole course'. Like the London Marathon. And about the same length.

DD2 was disappointed we couldn't buy Daim cake in the Marketplace, because the fridges were broken.

But you can buy that from the local Asda, so not really something we now need to travel 20 miles to get .

I was just reading the thread about school holidays. No mention of days out to ikea my DS’s should have been so lucky

My dc have been very spoilt. Not been on holiday for 14
years- but many trips to IKEA .
