We're in the middle of the long hot Summer of 2025. CORONATION STREET THREAD. **No spoilers please.**

You can see half the cast all shiny from the heat and humidity. And probably will for a couple more months yet at least!

Not a lot has changed since the beginning of the last thread!

Nina and Summer had a close shave when the police thought they'd attacked Gary when they were 'tripping.' Turned out it was Lou (who has been arrested.)

Lauren is falling for Aadi (he is cute to be fair.)

Debbie is fairly stable but sadly still has dementia.

Looks like Mick is going to cause trouble again, after being arrested for killing Craig. And Sally and Tim have been taking care of his and Lou's children.

Not much to be seen of the older characters, (I mean - like people who have been there 20+ years, not just the ones who've been there from the 1960s/1970s etc,) and Corrie is a little bit crime, and doom heavy at the moment.

But we do have a few 'light-hearted' moments to keep us going.

George and Glenda are always worth watching, Tim and Steve are funny together. Not fond of Cassie, but am warming to her and Steve being together, (and am warming to her a bit...) Debbie is a star and it's sad that she's ill, and DeeDee appears to be pining for her baby that she has 'given' to her brother James. James is being a bit of an arse to her too. Hope the little girl (Laila) stays in Coronation Street! She is adorable!

Kev has been given the all clear and doesn't have cancer now, but is telling everyone he does. Tyrone has caught him out though, and told him he needs to tell Abi!

Swain has been given desk duties, and counselling, (after the trauma of the death of her colleague Craig,) but isn't taking to the counselling, as she thinks she's fine.

The script writers have been so not at all clever in setting it up so that they'll be able to use the 'drama' of the marriage not being legal in a future episode.

I’ve just realised that Summer has FIVE Dads:

• unknown birth father
• Adoptive father, Drew Spellman (deceased)
• Billy
• Todd
• Paul

That probably makes half of Manchester her grandparent.

The entire episode was cringe worthy but fascinating to watch (through fingers) and I thought Debbie did a great Carmen Miranda impression in that headdress. Her head looked enormous and shiny pyjamas was her outfit of choice so she didn't disappoint 🙄 but she seems to use the same oily shiny face gunk as Abbeh 🥺

My disappointment hovered around the bride. Bernie should have worn her hair down and had a lovely fluffy curly style.

Yep. They are not legally married (AFAIK.) Unless I missed something, they didn't sign the marriage register. Was there even a priest/vicar/celebrant/pandit (Hindu Priest,) there? Marriage is not official/legal until you have signed 'the marriage register.'

Also Dev is Hindu. Would he have been happy with a few words in a hospital next to his bride in the sick bed, when she was actually OK and could leave soon? They could have re-arranged the wedding?

As has been said, really daft storyline.

I do actually remember this one LOL! Only now he's been mentioned though.

He had been with Billy (in a relationship,) but had split up, and he came to Billy to ask him to adopt Summer as he (Drew) was dying. I have never known about or heard of the unknown bio father.

Drew was an ex of Billy’s, and Billy was her godfather. So when Drew discovered he was dying, he turned up at Billy’s and asked him to be her guardian. Billy was with Todd at the time. About 8-years ago?

No sure what the purpose of Dev/Bernie non marriage was. The writers must (surely) have a reason for that steer. I quite liked the ending with Bernie dancing to her style of music.

Indeed he did. Not sure if meaty Ronnie has had any meaty storylines but I expect as Debbie's dementia is played out then there's scope for him to do well scriptwise but knowing the writers these days things could turn out not as expected.

I think Ronnie is a very poor actor. Sorry … I do like the character though! I’m no expert at all, but even I can tell that he needs to practise and improve his breath work. He struggles to get a full sentence out at once, so has a very ‘stoppy starty’ way of talking.

Can someone please tell me what that trance track is called that Bernie and Dev were raving to? 😁
