You can see half the cast all shiny from the heat and humidity. Grin And probably will for a couple more months yet at least!

Not a lot has changed since the beginning of the last thread!

Nina and Summer had a close shave when the police thought they'd attacked Gary when they were 'tripping.' Turned out it was Lou (who has been arrested.)

Lauren is falling for Aadi (he is cute to be fair.)

Debbie is fairly stable but sadly still has dementia.

Looks like Mick is going to cause trouble again, after being arrested for killing Craig. And Sally and Tim have been taking care of his and Lou's children.

Not much to be seen of the older characters, (I mean - like people who have been there 20+ years, not just the ones who've been there from the 1960s/1970s etc,) and Corrie is a little bit crime, and doom heavy at the moment.

But we do have a few 'light-hearted' moments to keep us going.

George and Glenda are always worth watching, Tim and Steve are funny together. Not fond of Cassie, but am warming to her and Steve being together, (and am warming to her a bit...) Debbie is a star and it's sad that she's ill, and DeeDee appears to be pining for her baby that she has 'given' to her brother James. James is being a bit of an arse to her too. Hope the little girl (Laila) stays in Coronation Street! She is adorable!Smile

Kev has been given the all clear and doesn't have cancer now, but is telling everyone he does. Tyrone has caught him out though, and told him he needs to tell Abi!

Swain has been given desk duties, and counselling, (after the trauma of the death of her colleague Craig,) but isn't taking to the counselling, as she thinks she's fine.

Sorry if I've missed anything!

I think we should give a nod to Nick and David bickering in the bistro:

Nick: Okay, fasten your seatbelts…
David: Shouldn’t you have said that to her? (nods towards Toyah)

I guffawed at that! 😂

Oh I agree, these two are so funny. I’m sure many of their lines are unscripted/ad-lib!

Because Corrie law means you have to live on the cobbles. It's like Stephen King's The Dome.

Even the two most successful businesswomen are fighting over a spare house on the posh side of the street

and the clock is quite prominent, almost like they are making a joke out of it!

and the five minutes included time to get clothes off and on, barely any time to get their greasy mitts on each other

Edited

How did she get those super tight jeans on and off?

They should have their own spin off series

Theo sitting on the bonnet thinking he’s Keniecki in Grease 🤣

Corrie the Musical 😄

It's what we've all been waiting for !

Maybe it’s my tough Glaswegian background that has made me a little too resilient, but I’m just like ‘FFS Sam, get over it, you absolute melt.’

Why Abi is acting holier than thou is absolutely beyond me. She has proven Kev 100% right. I’m glad Carl ditched her!

I actually really felt for James. It must be soul-destroying for him and putting myself in his place, I’d really struggle in my relationship with Dede, especially with her lack of sensitivity.

They should have their own spin off series

They have a podcast, together with Colson Smith. Called something like On The Sofa. They are quite funny and you get little snippets of Corrie news - but no spoilers.

JMSA · 30/07/2025 07:33

Oh, and the latest episode didn’t have a single minute of Swain time. What is going on?!? 😂

Abi and Carl's post coital conversation was bizarre and hilarious

They were ridiculous!🤣

Is Carl just a classic player? Why does he suddenly care about Kev’s feelings? He’s been chasing Abi like a jack Russell for months!

I don’t like/buy Abi and Kev as a couple, but she’s being very high and mighty after what she’s put him through in the past.

eggandonion · 30/07/2025 09:17

Poor jack and his sad voice.

He doesn’t care about Kevin at all. He only cares about himself - Kev said he’d go to the police and tell them
about the MOT fraud and stolen Merc if Carl went near Abi. So he’s dropped her quick!

eggandonion · 30/07/2025 10:36

He won't go easily. Especially now he has experience of the amazing Abi. Chariot Square probably does a family rate. They will be romping in there soon...
Did Ryan get his job back there?

I know we have all been waiting for it and DD has been giving the baby forlorn looks but it still seemed to come out of nowhere.

Once again I have no sympathy for either party in a corrie dispute. James is a right twit and has not shown that he is not capable of looking after a child. He flew to the USA five minutes after DD had handed the baby over, OK his partner had been in an accident but he could not help and if he really saw himself as a father then looking after his child should have been his priority rather than sitting at bedside. He then went back on the deal that he made with DD and hung around Weatherfield, he was let down by his partner but still his responsibility to move on and give DD space- he could have stayed with mother, if he had then he would have kept the child

He also dumps the kid and goes down the pub in the afternoon.

Overall, I profoundly disapprove of this plot based on booting around a newborn baby

JMSA · 30/07/2025 11:50

And Dede was late for the meeting with the social worker!

FlibbertyGibbitt · 30/07/2025 11:54

No way should that baby be in a Moses basket !

zanahoria · 30/07/2025 11:55

The poor social worker must be thoroughly confused.

I keep expecting Joel's parents to show up and claim that the poor child is better off with them

They wanted Lauren's baby.

She has been passed around like Moses

Deadringer · 30/07/2025 12:11

Surely dee dee could have told James privately that she had changed her mind? I have no sympathy for him though, when she agreed to the adoption he had a partner and lived in the states, now he is back in the family home right under dee dee's nose. He doesn't have his own home, or a job, what makes him think he can provide for a baby?

eggandonion · 30/07/2025 12:45

Would anyone be allowed to adopt a baby when their relationship was ending? Why can't they just live together like people do in Downton with assorted children?

She even introduced herself as the birth mother just minutes beforehand

Gingercar · 30/07/2025 14:32

Yes I thought that was a shocking end to the adoption story. Deedee didn’t even say sorry! All this build up for a wet squib finale!

thenightsky · 30/07/2025 14:47

Yes, with a dependable but boot-faced nanny (channelling Jilly Cooper).

eggandonion · 30/07/2025 15:02

They seem to spend a lot of time away from their parents. At least Emily used to babysit. Now the small kids are just ignored.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 30/07/2025 16:03

I really hope we aren’t getting Sam spouting on about climate change forever now. I switch mentally when he talks. Sorry Sam but it’s that monotone voice that does me.
