We're in the middle of the long hot Summer of 2025. CORONATION STREET THREAD. **No spoilers please.**

You can see half the cast all shiny from the heat and humidity. Grin And probably will for a couple more months yet at least!

Not a lot has changed since the beginning of the last thread!

Nina and Summer had a close shave when the police thought they'd attacked Gary when they were 'tripping.' Turned out it was Lou (who has been arrested.)

Lauren is falling for Aadi (he is cute to be fair.)

Debbie is fairly stable but sadly still has dementia.

Looks like Mick is going to cause trouble again, after being arrested for killing Craig. And Sally and Tim have been taking care of his and Lou's children.

Not much to be seen of the older characters, (I mean - like people who have been there 20+ years, not just the ones who've been there from the 1960s/1970s etc,) and Corrie is a little bit crime, and doom heavy at the moment.

But we do have a few 'light-hearted' moments to keep us going.

George and Glenda are always worth watching, Tim and Steve are funny together. Not fond of Cassie, but am warming to her and Steve being together, (and am warming to her a bit...) Debbie is a star and it's sad that she's ill, and DeeDee appears to be pining for her baby that she has 'given' to her brother James. James is being a bit of an arse to her too. Hope the little girl (Laila) stays in Coronation Street! She is adorable!Smile

Kev has been given the all clear and doesn't have cancer now, but is telling everyone he does. Tyrone has caught him out though, and told him he needs to tell Abi!

Swain has been given desk duties, and counselling, (after the trauma of the death of her colleague Craig,) but isn't taking to the counselling, as she thinks she's fine.

Sorry if I've missed anything!

The conversithing was like the culture that leanne and amy were involved with.

Yes! The Institute or whatever it was called.
Audrey’s afternoon tea swimming in champagne was cringe, the dysfunctional Platts at their best.

TellingBone · 23/07/2025 22:13

Issue based storyline clearly incoming with Sam

The new Lily fits right in

MonickerMonica · 23/07/2025 23:24

So the conversion therapy meeting was OF COURSE held in the community centre and anyone could walk in off the street. Give me strength!

Could have been worse I suppose. They could have held it in a corner of the Bistro while the Platts were bickering at Audrey's birthday celebration.

🙁

carmak · 23/07/2025 23:25

Lily's little smirk was a bit worrying. Has Hope been training her up?

digiwidgy · 24/07/2025 06:45

I barely watched last night. The whole Theo thing is awful. Corrie writers don’t seem to know we do not like Theo. He can head off to prison either way Mick and Lou as far as I am concerned.

HurdyGurdy19 · 24/07/2025 06:51

I'm sure the conversion therapy storyline is an important issue, but I just don't care about Theo, and it's just annoying me. I hardly looked at the screen last night, I was so bored with the whole thing.

He's a very unlikeable character and hasn't been in the programme long enough for anyone to be invested in his story.

Definitely something going on with Lily and Sam. She was giving him some very meaningful looks, just before he went and hid under the desk.

Why was Leanne at Audrey's birthday celebration?

I did laugh when they were giving her their gift and Sarah gave her a silk scarf, Leanne gave her a posh bottle of bubbly - and David and Shona giving her a Freshco voucher.

Freysimo · 24/07/2025 07:22

zanahoria · 23/07/2025 21:07

Is this meant to raise awareness of the issue?

I certainly do not feel any more aware

I don't think conversion therapy is an issue. It might have been in the 1970s but I think we're past all that now. Producers desperately looking for another gay trope they can use. Just let Todd have a normal relationship FFS!

The actor who plays Noah is a brilliant dancer BTW. I saw him in the lead role (on film) in Matthew Bourne's male Swan Lake. Corrie could have made him a dancer!

ajandjjmum · 24/07/2025 07:22

Bernie should have been glammed up a little once they got her together with Dev. She can look gorgeous (in real life), and that would make their relationship so much more realistic. I know that's probably shallow. I do find her character realistic though, and quite like that she keeps referring back to her mis-spent young years, although I appreciate that her kids really suffered.

JewelleryCat · 24/07/2025 07:51

I’m wondering if Noah is gay and that’s why he’s doing this conversion therapy because he’s in denial. Either that or he is just really religious and sees being gay as a bad thing

bizzey · 24/07/2025 07:56

Wow , I didn't know Noah/ Richard Windsor was a classically trained dancer !
I loved him as Cal in Casualty .

His CV is impressive !!

zanahoria · 24/07/2025 08:37

The conversion therapy reminds me of the far right wing group.

I am sure both these things are out there but Corrie does not portray them in a convincing way.

Noah and the gang looked like a meeting of cockoholics anonymous.

MonickerMonica · 24/07/2025 10:14

Totally unconnected to any storylines (apologies) but after seeing those other men in the community centre I'm wondering how much do extras get paid.

Yes I can Google it. 😃

Lorrymum · 24/07/2025 12:15

I'm not even sure that conversion therapy still exists in the UK. Would it really take place in a community centre room, advertised with leaflets?
Does Theo travel pack in time to find his clothes? The t-shirts he wears are circa 1970's Man At C&A!

I would be very surprised if a council owned community centre would allow it.

Although the Corrie community centre was Fred's butcher's shop purchased by Yasmin, not sure who owns it now.

If Billy and Todd had half a brain between then they would have contacted the owners. Billy is an archdeacon, he has contacts and influence in the community, he could sorted this out. He should also have a working knowledge of other churches.

It would a great set if that had a modern community centre with play areas, kitchen etc, somewhere for people to do fitness classes or just hang around.

Hollyoaks did the conversion therapy story a little while ago and they were doing their meetings after hours in a school. I imagine corrie bosses have took some tips from that, although IRL I'm not aware that this is a thing anymore, particularly in the UK when LGBTQ+ is widely celebrated/promoted.

The vests have been in the back of the Corrie wardrobe since Stan Ogden died

MonickerMonica · 24/07/2025 12:56

If the strap on Billy's leather bag was any longer it would cause him to go archdeacon over tit.

Wishful thinking 🤞

Edited

Is Billy still an archdeacon?

I thought he gave up his church career when Paul was ill?

AmusedMaker · 24/07/2025 18:22

Anyone else think Noah & Theo ( or Noah & Todd ) will end up in bed together?
"Thou doth protest too much’

eggandonion · 24/07/2025 18:36

I think it was a career break. Hopefully he will now be promoted to Bishop far away . I want to see more evil Summer though .

I do. I said above that I think Noah is gay and that he’s doing the therapy because he’s in denial

There is a vacancy for Archbishop of Canterbury

nildesparandum · 24/07/2025 21:08

I can remember thinking ages ago, when Billy suddenly became an archdeacon, courtesy of Corrie, the scriptwriters will be making him Archbishop of Canterbury next.
Then. we will have an Archbishop of Canterbury who spends his time wandering up and down Coronation Street, propping up the bar in the Rovers then going back to his tiny flat because he has allowed Lambeth Palace to be given to worthy causes. He will only leave Coronation Street to officiate at Royal Christenings weddings and funerals, and the next Coronation.
Then he return to Corrie to be just Billy until needed again.
