For me it would have to be Christian Eriksson collapsing at the euros in 2021

Also 9/11, the plane hitting the second tower.

Yes this, the moment it confirmed what was happening

Something that’s always stayed with me was when Five Star were guests on ‘Going Live’ on a Saturday morning and someone phoned in to ask them a question. Instead of the usual ‘what’s your favourite colour’ etc, they shouted down the phone ‘WHY ARE YOU SO SHIT?!’ I was so shocked and you should’ve seen Phil Schofield’s face, poor man. I’ll never forget it.

I also saw this 🤣

2 mentioned above (Eriksson collapse and 9/11) and also watching live stream of the us Congress when the jan6 riot interrupted the electrical college vote. It was bizarre.

For those saying 9/11 did you actually watch it live?

Yes. It was so eerie. I walked in in the middle of others watching (I thought it was a film). There was so much confusion in the reporting as it evolved. I thought I was watching footage of something that had already happened and then realised from the reactions that it was live... I had to stop watching the TV news and switched to radio and remember vividly hearing about the pentagon plane.

Hillsborough. I was a bit young to quite understand that people were actually dying though. I understood it was bad and people were injured. Me and some other kids were in trouble for going up on a hotel roof and parents were berating us and then this thing came on TV (communal lounge in hotel) and they just forgot about us and the roof and watched. So there was this weird relief.

Challenger disaster. Simpler for a kid to understand than Hillsborough - I got that perfectly in the moment. And I had nightmares for a while.

Not live, but after Heather Barnett was murdered in 2002, probably during coverage of the trial/conviction, the 999 call her 14 year old son made was played on the news. He and his 11 year old sister had just discovered their mum’s mutilated body and you could hear the sister screaming in the background. It is the most disturbing thing I’ve heard and I’m still surprised it was broadcast.

I remember the joke about George Bush's face reacting to the news on HIGNFY (can't have been the same week), but now I think very differently.

He had to react to that news in front of schoolchildren without scaring them or alerting the media.
