Yup, definitely 9/11. I watched as the second plane hit the towers and it was gut wrenching.

9/11 the 2nd plane hitting the tower. I was on a work placement year as part of my degree and we had the news on a tv in the office as colleagues were in New York on a work trip. We thought the news was just re showing the 1st plane at first. Then watching both towers collapse. Also realising that I was watching hinv people jump to their deaths. It's the only major event I can think of that I watched live as it all unfolded.

9/11 and Hilsborough

Yes 9/11 was shocking but it was so shocking there was an air of unreality about it. For me, it was someone getting run over. I think it was on the news some years ago. They actually showed the car colliding with the pedestrian. I can still see it now in my mind's eye.

9/11 is the obvious answer but also events like Hillsborough or watching Ayrton Senna's crash live on TV.

This. It was like something from a film and I had to make myself believe it was real.

Also the Paris terrorist attacks in 2015 including the Bataclan Theatre.
