Meanwhile , it's not looking good for Casper, but Jannik is looking very solid

( most annoying is the fact Tommy Paul is through to the semi final already. )

Forza!

I presume if Hubi had won only the 1 balloon would have come out

Raahh · 24/05/2025 17:39

Oh Hubi is a gentleman.

Mac is a fine one to talk Grin

Grin And the ball kids would have been wondering what formation to stand in.

Aww Hubi

Raahh · 24/05/2025 17:42

Gave birth to a 2 month old baby? How does that work?

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 24/05/2025 17:45

I completely tuned out so I missed that Grin

Raahh · 24/05/2025 17:47

He waffled a lot Jane. and against my better judgement, I kept listening.

Grin Jane
I* *never liked Connors either. Saw him way back when on the old No1 Court. Wasn't very sporting Hmm

Fecked off with the Geneva result. He only went there because he knew he wouldn't win in Hamburg Angry

Raahh · 24/05/2025 18:55

Yes, the draw for Geneva was definitely the 'easier' one of the two, in terms of top players entered- even more so once Casper withdrew.

Haven’t seen any tennis - annoyed that Djok won - I need to know who gave birth to a 2 month old baby Grin

Well done Cobolli - he’s on my list of favourite Italian players to watch

Raahh · 24/05/2025 21:50

Journalists are rubbish. I've just read an Express Headline that basically mixed up the experiences of 2 players- but read as though Raducanu isn't playing Because her plane was hit by lightning.

Actually-it's Zverev's plane, and Raducanu is umming and ahhing about playing because of something about needles.
But it took a lot of digging to find all that out.

But honestly, shit journalism Grin. Good thing it's just sport and not life or death ( and I don't even care about Emma- I saw the headline and thought - that's a novel excuse to withdraw,,not used that one before Grin

JaneJeffer · 24/05/2025 22:04

The Zverev haters will have a field day with that one!

ChessieFL · 25/05/2025 05:59

Bonjour mes amis!

I’m hoping to watch plenty of tennis today. I don’t have to go anywhere so fingers crossed I can be left alone with the tennis! And of course Rafa’s tribute - I’ve read that it’s going to be after the conclusion of the day matches on Chatrier so that could be any time from about 4pm really! None of the Brits appear to be playing today which is a bit strange - there’s a few of them so would have thought at least one would be playing today but no, all tomorrow. I’m hoping to start my day watching Petra at 10 - just hope my new subscription to TNT works properly.

kazzaD66 · 25/05/2025 08:38

I shall be very envious of all of you able to watch for the next fortnight! Although I won't be around much to watch this week. DS has his final exam on Tuesday and then that's 3 years at uni done Shock DH and I are driving down to Exeter for a couple of nights and then we'll pack all DS's stuff up and all come home on Thursday afternoon.

Raahh · 25/05/2025 10:01

yay! TNT works!

I was a bit worried it might not, and I had been lulled into a false sense of security. Grin

kazza it all goes so quickly, doesn't it? DD1 has finished her first year at uni- ds has finished his second year of his degree apprenticeship (although he worked for the company a couple of years first)

And dd2 is going into year 10 in September- at a school I still don't want her to be at Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 25/05/2025 10:07

I can't get my head around DD1's terms though - mine never used to finish til the end of June (and the , then) end of the first week of Wimbledon Grin.

Now, she's been 'off' since before Easter, apart 2 days of exams in MayHmm. At least she's local/ at home so no travelling involved.

Oh- Laura has just said Discovery plus is still available.

But her advertising upcoming football matches sounds a bit odd Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 25/05/2025 10:14

ok, so I can see how the British coverage on TNT is going to be already. Like Sky mark 2.

You can get other matches via the TNT red button, I've discovered. Matches have started.

But they are wittering about Raducanu instead.

I can tell my blood pressure is going to need monitoring over the next fortnight (at least until the Brits are out).

OP posts:
ChessieFL · 25/05/2025 10:50

I was also worried TNT wouldn’t work but it does and I’m watching Petra. No wittering about Emma here.

Raahh · 25/05/2025 11:02

I calmed myself down by finding the Svitolina match. Grin
I don't suppose the rain is helping matters much on the outside courts.

OP posts:
Raahh · 25/05/2025 11:24

I'm willing on Elmer Moller to win the first set against TP.

Moller looks about 12.

And he has.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 25/05/2025 11:34

I see Mahut is playing doubles with PHH tomorrow! I thought he'd retired (several times!). He's now 43.
Is this Gasquet's last tournament or is he playing out the year? Saw he was practising with Bear the other day. Lovely to watch, two old timers with beautiful one-handed backhands Grin

Raahh · 25/05/2025 11:43

kazza I have given up on wondering whether or not Mahut is retiring Grin. I've decided he never will Grin.

I think this is Gasquet's final tournament. I wonder if he will ge the 'This is your life ' treatment like Tsonga- or have they used up the balloon budget on the Rafa tribute?

ChessieFL · 25/05/2025 11:56

Petra’s just lost sadly - won the first set, but was then bagelled in the second, came back a bit in the third but not enough. Shame but good win for Golubic.

kazzaD66 · 25/05/2025 12:05

Yes, it's a shame about Petra. All things being equal, I would want her to win but I wondered if she was fit enough after her recent retirement (can't remember where) so went with Golubic in the Tennis TV predictions game Wink
