Recommend me things to watch when my children are in the room

I am about to start some medical treatment that will leave me tired and unwell. Looking for recommendations for things to watch while looking after my children, age 7 and 10, but not aimed at them. Like most kids these days they have their tablets, so would much rather watch their cartoons and gaming than anything I try and engage them with. They will get out and about with family too.

So series without sex and swearing, or documentaries that don't involve murder or death induced natural disasters etc. We all like things like gladiators, masked singer, is it cake and geography related documentaries. They aren't good with death and peril, so something like dr who is a no, as are wildlife documentaries where the cute fluffy creature is torn to pieces by predators.

Agog at some of these suggestions 😂 Motherland, Detectorists for a 7yr old?? Amanda and Kevin shagging on the floor of #shitshop?! Perfect for a young child.

@HarryVanderspeigle I have an 8yr old and along with your initial list, we like The Middle and similarly Malcolm in the Middle. There is an occasional reference to sex and the odd mild ‘crap’ level swear word, but my DD loves the kids’ capers and surreal humour. The Middle is a lot more wholesome and does contain some very mild Christianity 😅 but along the ‘aww ain’t family great/love thy neighbour’ lines.

We also love In for a Penny on ITVX, totally silly fun and very family friendly slapstick game show with old glorified redcoat Stephen Mulhern. Catchphrase and The Chase are other favourites.

Audio books are good too, if you want to relax with eyes closed. Our library has free access via BorrowBox. Or podcasts.

My 6 year old likes cruising or holidaying with jane mcdonald on in the background and also we enjoyed Sue perkins lost in Thailand and lost in Alaska.

Some of these are definitely on the watch if the kids are being looked after elsewhere list! But that will happen too, so might get to watch some stuff that isn't kid suitable.

To chef sounds fun. I can't watch usa masterchef as I don't like Gordon Ramsey being rude or mean. This seems to be an alternative

I do like audio books for when I am cooking and driving. Good shout that if I need to lie down, I can still listen to something, thank you.
