Here we go - about to run out on Thread Two

OP posts:

I don’t think Anisa needed the investment - the publicity she has had will give her business a boost

i just went onto deliveroo and looked up Bombay pizza. There were loads of pizzas at different restaurants but she’s not in my area. I think the problem is that if ordering for a few people you may only have one who wants the Indian topping

the80sweregreat · 18/04/2025 09:33

Anisa could call the dark kitchens supplying the take outs ‘ Dhal a pizza ‘.
I wish them both luck, but especially her as she seems nice and very driven to do well in a competitive market.

Bruisername · 18/04/2025 09:36

Given her educational and career background I don’t think anyone needs to worry about her!

DrinkReprehensibly · 18/04/2025 10:49

I caught up on iPlayer this morning. The last episode is less interesting in a way. By the end, it turns into just a long drawn out version of Dragon's Den as it's not really about how well they perform in the task and just about how much money Lord Sugar can make back on his investment. Still, I enjoy the series until the end. They both did well really.

workstealssleep · 18/04/2025 12:22

What a boring winner, though. When Anisa challenged him saying he was just selling aircon, she was right. How is that entrepreneurial? He had no angle, no USP, just selling boring old aircon.

Bruisername · 18/04/2025 12:45

I don’t think the format works for a business partner. Eg Phil last year was dreadful all throughout but obviously had a business LS was interested in and it felt that way about these two finalists

if he doesn’t want an employee I’m not sure how they can resolve it though. The first 11 episodes seem separate to the final one

Ultimately Sugar has got half of Dean's business for a bargain price - playing it completely safe. He should have taken a chance on Anisa's much more exciting venture. OK, Indian pizza could be copied, but Anisa has a proper understanding of Indian flavouring and spices and an authentic Bangladeshi cuisine heritage which Domino's & co can't imitate.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 18/04/2025 15:31

The problem with Anisa's business is that pizza places are ten a penny, I had a look at my local pizza places, and they all do Indian pizzas. The likes of Dominoes, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut really do have the market hold. The market is saturated with takeaways as well.

How's she going to expand her business? Is she going to start doing franchises (which is what Dominoes etc are)? I can imagine it being popular locally but not countrywide when there are already so many other brands out there.

On the other hand, more and more people are getting air con as our summers get hotter, Dean could also branch out into business air con if he wants. If he could also make it 'green' he'd be on to a winner.

Was way behind with my watching- bit have to say it was a bit of a shocker at the end there when we discovered Dean had children. He never said!!

He mentions them in practically every episode tbh😂

I think that was the point of FreddoSwaggins' joke.

"if he doesn’t want an employee I’m not sure how they can resolve it though. The first 11 episodes seem separate to the final one"

I wonder if the original job available format could be brought back but for a company/organisation nothing to do with Lord Sugar and 2 representatives of it could be seconded to assist (or replace) Karren and Tim?

Nominative · 18/04/2025 23:30

I think the programme has become duller since it was focussed on finding a business partner. So many episodes are variations on the same theme - choose/invent a product, produce the packaging, do the marketing, make a pitch. Time was when the one when they made a TV advert was a task on its own, now it's just an element of so many tasks and it's useless because it's a last minute throw together and none of the candidates can act.

Who can forget Pants Man, that was classic Aprrentice.

Bartg · 19/04/2025 08:45

I had forgotten. Can someone remind me, the first episode, Alan sugar was literally looking for an apprentice to work with him?

and for all subsequent episodes it was for a business to invest in? Or when did the format change?

The format changed in series 7 (2011). Before that, the prize was a job woking for Sugar with a £100k salary.

Series 6 was won by Stella English who quit the job a few days later and tried to sue Sugar for constructive dismissal, which is why the format changed.

Bartg · 19/04/2025 09:17

Thank you. I think there were a lot of middle series I didn’t watch. An actual apprentice/job would be better. I like the idea of it being for different companies too

memoriesofamiga · 20/04/2025 20:34

Just catching up with this. It was always going to be Dean. Suralan loves a wide boy.

Obvious from the start.. but well done Dean! (even if you do look like Olly Murs)

A cross between Olly murs and heath ledger.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 23/04/2025 19:07

Is it wrong that I have a bit of a crush on Dean
