I think I could have a go at a thoracotomy. Anyone else watched too much Greys Anatomy?!🤣

Is it just me?

Omggggg

I always say I swear I could have a go at an appendectomy! 😭😭

I've watched so so much greys

Plus all those years watching holby city

Get me in there to plug the NHS shortages! 🤭🤭

FartingAgainstThunder · 04/04/2025 18:11

All of E.R and several rewatches of greys.
I'm practically the chief of surgery!

SheilaFentiman · 04/04/2025 18:25

Pretty sure I could pull off a whipple

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 04/04/2025 18:27

This reminds me of my BiL who was convinced he could fly an aeroplane because he'd done it loads of time on the Xbox 😁

babasaclover · 04/04/2025 18:46

Please tell me you watched the documentary on the greys anatomy writer that faked cancer etc and wrote all the scripts based on her ‘lived experience’

glitterturd · 04/04/2025 18:47

I can diagnose anything! 😂

I watched all of ER from the beginning recently, I'm convinced I could intubate someone!

Now moved on to House with teen DD, main learning point - it's never lupus

Anyoneforadiscountcode · 05/04/2025 19:36

I loved ER and House also. Happy viewing.

it’s great when you get to rewatch favourites with the kids.

After decades of watching Holby City, Casualty, ER and Grey’s, I reckon I could put in a chest drain.

Came on to say I could totes Whipple.

Watch one, do one, teach one.

DrinkReprehensibly · 05/04/2025 19:51

I got up to series 17 of Grey's and took a break as it was all about the pandemic but I do intend to return at some point. This is a good reminder!

When I was watching it a lot, I did start to guess a few diagnoses in the episodes!

Just remember it's never Lupus 😂

Latenightreader · 05/04/2025 19:55

I've recently watched 14-21 of Greys and I'm feeling confident I could carry out an ex-lap (ex-lac?) or put in a foley. Whenever I hear them talk casually about a whipple I remember Benton being desperate to do one in ER - they were new I think.

If you like Greys and ER you should seek out St Elsewhere.

Cattenberg · 05/04/2025 20:17

I used to watch Casualty a lot, so I feel as though I know how to treat a tension pneumothorax. But don’t worry, I won’t.

Danikm151 · 05/04/2025 20:18

This time last year I’d never watched greys anatomy.
Now I’ve watched every single episode. I got hooked!

Mine is based on GPs behind closed doors 😂

The resident is my new guilty pleasure.
Could definitely do a chest tube and I’d say I could remove a bit of skull should the need arise!

I assume “ex lap” - exploratory laparotomy. But my medical knowledge all comes from grey’s as well so they may be two totally separate things!

A few years ago I did diagnose someone’s rare condition on Casualty because I’d seen it on grey’s. I think it was maybe the kind of very rare thing that you never see in real life, only in tv medical dramas!

BoredZelda · 05/04/2025 20:27

Watching Eastender’s 40th episode, My daughter and I knew immediately what would kill Martin. We also know never to be taken to some Podunk hospital with a head injury.

He’s s bloody annoying with the intense whispering and the head tilt. And his wife was so bloody wonderful it made me heave.

Yet watch the whole thing I did. Oh the shame…

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 05/04/2025 20:33

Oh and I watched the one with Freddie Whatshisname.

The one from Bates Motel.

HermioneIsMyHomegirl · 05/04/2025 20:35

I could totally drill burr holes.

Actually I couldn't, I have a tremor in my dominant hand. But in another life, I would absolutely be a kick ass surgeon.

spiderlight · 05/04/2025 21:04

I'm goat it's not just me. I could definitely treat a tension pneumothorax, and I feel as if I've failed if I don't diagnose the rare disease or the hidden injury before the doctors, I feel like an abject failure!
