This is our tenth anniversary of sharing our thoughts on Our Girl series one and have subsequently watched the other three series, followed by Soldier Soldier, The Musketeers, Spooks and Hustle so thought it was time to try something different. Please join us and share your thoughts if you have ever been a fan of Downton Abbey. We are currently on series two, episode seven.

Sorry - enjoying it too much. Isn’t the American awful. How ever did Cora turn out so well.

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:19

Violet calls Matthew's tux his "play clothes" Grin

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:19

Matthew is quite understanding about the problem with his evening jacket.

Carson gives Mrs Hughes a blasting for not putting some wine glasses out. He doesn't know of course about her visit to Dr Carson,

Maybe the rough American edges have been smoothed off since Cora has lived in England.

I reckon being young when she arrived in England and 30 years of Violet have probably smoothed any rough American edges.

Sir Anthony and Lord G have a heart to heart about Edith.

Robert has a quiet word with the old duffer about staying away from his daughter - in a gentlemanly manner.

eejittwo · 19/03/2025 21:22

Thomas is making an enemy of O’Brien.

Magi84 · 19/03/2025 21:23

Poor Matthew

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:23

Mrs Hughes is stressed and very short with Carson.

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:23

Well done Mrs Hughes for speaking your mind. Carson is totally up himself!

All this conniving to get money

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:24

Watch out Thomas, you've upset Auntie O;Brien.

Meanwhile the fast American ladies maid gives Alfred a kiss. Daisy does not approve.

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:26

Edith receives the letter from Sir Anthony. Probably something like "It's not you, it's me".

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:26

Edith has had a "dear Edith" letter from the old Duffer. She doesn't have much luck at the breakfast table - the farmer's wife warned her off too.

Magi84 · 19/03/2025 21:26

O'Brien on the rampage

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:27

Isabel is do gooding for the fallen women who have degraded themselves and now Ethel turns up needing help.

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:28

Back at the doctor's Mrs Hughes sample will take two months to analyse - I will resist the urge to compare with the current service levels of the NHS.

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:29

Edith is in danger of becoming a stalker!

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:30

Does she really like Sir Anthony that much or is it just that she wants to be married and not the poor spinster sister? (What an awful word spinster is).

OP posts:
eejittwo · 19/03/2025 21:30

Edith is desperate

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:31

Isn't amazing how easily they can travel from York to London and back in a day back in 1920 - hard to believe, but then....

I think she's just fed up of being in the shadow of her sisters and, yes, becoming an old maid. She's also right about the shortage of suitable young me to marry.

Magi84 · 19/03/2025 21:32

Oh Anna tells Mr Bates about the lack of finances

.... and would you send an evening jacket to be mended to your London tailor on the train these days? Hmmm.
